We have often heard people saying that today’s generation is a confused and a restless generation. The young blood is unaware of what has to be done with their lives. Yes, Indeed! The conflicts and confusions of this generation are way beyond the acumen of our ancestors. And this is what Director Manish Sharma tries to explain in his new venture, Shuddh Desi Romance! After Band Baaja Baaraat and Ladies vs Ricky Bahl, he brings to us yet another novel concept that deals with the complications of the new age romance.

Plot: Shuddh Desi Romance is about three young, free-spirited and confused people dealing with their doubts about love, quick attractions and the fear of marriage. What happens when they are constrained to make decisions of their lives- How do they come over their confusions? This is what makes up for the crux of the movie.

Performances:  Sushant Singh Rajput, much famed for his debut Kai Po Che, is indeed a good discovery for Bollywood.  He portrays the confusions and hesitations of GenX with sheer brilliance. He is amazingly cute and charming.

Parineeti Chopra, with her effortless acting skills, manages to make an impact yet again! Displaying the aspirations of a love-seeking girl-next-door with authenticity she has definitely got herself a place in the hearts of the youngsters.

Newbie Vaani Kapoor is surprisingly confident and noteworthy. She looks absolutely gorgeous in her simplicity. With such a debut, she has proved that she is here to stay!

With his exemplary comic timing, Veteran Rishi Kapoor is truly a delight to watch. His presence in the movie adds to the fun quotient.

Music: The soundtrack of Shuddh Desi Romance is a short one with just four songs in its kitty. Just as the movie, the songs are also refreshing and vivacious. With catchy Hinglish lyrics (combination of Hindi and Engish words) and peppy music, the songs are oozing with romance and amusement. All the songs have already gained much popularity amongst the youngsters. The album is worth-listening to!

What’s good: The plot is a genuine take on the contemporary relationships and the idea of love. Everything about the movie seems convincingly real and accurate. The actors have delivered very fine performances. The music is hummable.  The cinematography is a delight for the eyes.

What’s bad:  The slow pace of the second half and the over-board confusions make you loose sync with the movie.

Overall, Shuddh Desi Romance is a pleasant change in the typical romances. Yash Raj banner moves out of its clichéd style and delivers a fresh take on love. The movie has a real outlook, something that the ordinary people can relate to. Shuddh Desi Romance reflects the mindset of the so-called confused generation and is set to strike a chord with those who love distinctive story-lines.

Verdict:  Not for those who believe in fairy-tale love stories!
