Thugs of Hindostan is an action-packed movie that depicts a band of thugs who are fighting for the independence of India from the British rule. The movie has been set in the year 1795 when the British East India Company was expanding its empire in India and had come to control large swats of territories. The thugs are led by Khudabaksh Azaad (the role has been played by Amitabh Bachchan) and are creating major obstacles in the path of the British who are aiming to colonize the country. The British under the command of a ruthless commander John Clive (played by Lloyd Owen) are determined to exterminate the Thugs so that they can continue with their conquest of the sub-continent. To destroy the thugs, the British employ the services of Firangi Mallah (role essayed by Aamir Khan). Mallah is to infiltrate the thugs and expose the threat to the British Empire. Will Clive be successful and be able to counter the threat of the thugs through Aamir Khan or will Khudabaksh and his tribe of thugs rid the country of the British?
Thugs of Hindostan is a heady mix of action, adventure and fantasy. An action-packed film, it is based on thugs, a historical cult active in the sub-continent in the 18th and early 19th centuries. The movie also has good amounts of drama and humor which would leave the audience mesmerized. Amitabh Bachchan as Khudabaksh has performed well and his character seems quite mysterious. Aamir Khan as the British informer Firangi Mallah has quite a few shades to his characters and through his amazing acting skills has done justice to his role. Katrina Kaif as Suraiyya looks dazzling but has a limited role. Fatima Sana Shaikh as Zafira too has given a decent performance.
Watch the movie if you are a lover of action, adventure, and fantasy. The movie is a bit long at 2.45 hours but surely keep you on the edge of your seats.
