When you have a blockbuster precursor, the pressure is real to keep up the reputation of the franchise. However, the new one did quite well on its trailer release. Tiger Zinda Hai met with an inundated Youtube views reaching 29 million and 480,000 likes in a mere 24 hours of trailer release, setting and breaking many records. How movie would fare at the box offices is yet to be seen but here is what we found on sitting through the movie.
Plot:
Tiger Zinda Hai picked off right where its precursor Ek Tha Tiger left off. The two super spies, Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif left the life of espionage and have adopted a much calmer and ordinary life. But the couple soon came back to the scene when there is an abduction of Indian nurses by an Iraqi terrorist group. This part of the story is not so original and has been taken from a real life incident, which dominated news headlines some time back. The rest of the film revolves around how the dashing duo carries out their rescue operation.
Movie review:
Swag, style and Salman, there will be so much of it, but logic, sanity and reason, do not expect much from these areas. You would soon lose the count of scenes where action stunts defy both gravity and logic. But that is where Salman Khan rescues the movie with his bravado and ostentatious display of heroism. You will see him doing all kinds of implausible action stunts which he would tackle unscathed, without a hair out of place. The stunts and fearlessness he has shown wearing an invisible cape of invincibility almost rolled us into imagining Salman in a superman costume. The look was not bad though! Katrina would start out promising but will soon take a backseat. It is actually raining Salman all over the film and even has a universally loved Salman shirtless scene, which is quite a staple for all Salman starrers! Cynics might not have much to praise, but this is undeniably a delight for all Sallu lovers. And moreover, the style quotient of the film never droops for a single second.
Music review:
The music is outright swaggy just like the film. A total of 6 songs, each giving us a different flavour in melodious tunes, are written by Irshad Kamil and composed by Vishal-Shekhar. Swag Se Swagat, where Vishal Dadlani lends his own voice definitely created a stomping anthem for the arrival of the movie. Dil Diyan Gallan, however, takes us down a notch from the all alive and kicking vibes of Swag Se Swagat, but is soothing nonetheless. There is a slow soft number Daata Tu by Shreya Ghoshal, which fares well too. Other songs won’t disappoint either.
Our Verdict:
Do watch it if you are a Salman fan but if you are a kind of person who wants reason and logic and don’t suffer barmy scenes gladly, better play cards at home and give the movie a miss.
