Post Results: In the state Assembly elections 2020, Akhilesh Pati Tripathi of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) won from Model Town with a vote margin of over 52,665 votes i.e. 52.58%. He was contesting election against Kapil Mishra of Bhartiya Janata Party.

 – He is the sitting MLA from Model Town constituency. Akhilesh Pati Tripathi has won this constituency twice (first in 2013 and second time in 2015 assembly elections).

 – Akhilesh Tripathi grabbed the news headlines when he defeated the 3-time Congress MLA from this constituency, Kanwar Karan Singh, in December 2013.

 – Some of the most popular issues that earned him widespread support (especially from the slum areas) are slums’ ration mafia issue, the promise of a commercial area for traders in the Model town assembly constituency, women’s safety, the establishment of a citizen’s fund for constituency development, and many more.

 – He migrated from UP to Delhi to become an IAS. Currently, Tripathi is a local from this constituency and lives in N-25/A-277, T-Huts, Lal Bagh, Azad Pur, Delhi – 110033.

 – Kapil Mishra is supposedly the most controversial candidate in the 2020 Delhi Assembly election. He is the friend-turned-foe of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal.

 – He was an AAP MLA in 2013 and was also inducted in the Delhi Assembly as Water Resource Minister by then Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal. However, Mishra was removed by Kejriwal after the former accused the later of corruption. However, the corruption charges against Arvind Kejriwal were dropped latter by Lokayukta after Mishra failed to substantiate his claims.

 – Kapil Mishra is the co-founder and coordinator of a New Delhi based youth action group, “Youth For Justice”. It raises and fights for many social causes and also raised voice against the Jessica Lal murder case, farmers’ suicide, Yamuna River bed encroachment, etc.

 – After his disqualification from the Delhi Assembly on August 2, 2019, under the anti-defection law, Kapil Mishra formally joined BJP on August 17, 2019.

 – He recently grabbed news headlines with his controversial tweet saying: “There will be a contest on Delhi Roads between India and Pakistan on February 8”. He was show-caused by the Election Commission and was later his election campaigning was banned for 48-hours on the charges of violating model code of conduct and trying to aggravate differences between two communities.

 – During 2013-14, Akansha Ola was the General Secretary of Delhi Mahila Congress.

 – She has been active in social work and politics since 1998. He hails from a political family. Her father, Kanwar Karan Singh was the 3-times MLA from this constituency (1998, 2003, and 2008).

 – Akansha is the grand-daughter-in-law of PadamShri Shri Ram Ola.
