The upcoming five-phase Jharkhand assembly polls, starting from November 30 are hotting up. Ticket aspirants are moving from one senior leader to another influential man for seeking tickets. Getting tickets from the leading parties before the election needs physical and mental effort, along with this wallet should always remain wide open.
Congress releases a fresh list
The Congress party has been fighting elections in the state as a junior ally of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has already released the name of 29 candidates, the grand old party will contest on 31 seats out of 81 assembly seats in the state.
Soren CM face
The troika of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), the Congress and Lalu Prasad Yadav’s Rashtriya Janata Dal are fighting elections from one platform with former Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren as the alliance’s CM face. JMM will field its 43 candidates while RJD will contest elections from seven seats.
Management guru takes on CM
The Congress has decided to field its star spokesperson and management guru Gourav Vallabh against chief minister Raghubar Das from Jamshedpur East. Beating Das in his constituency is like climbing on Everest. He has won five consecutive elections from this constituency.
Samad switches to JVM-P
Jharkhand Vikas Morcha-P (JVM-P) headed by the first chief minister of the state Babulal Marandi has decided to field Dayamani Barla from Khunti (ST) seat. JMM, MLA Shashi Bhushan Samad recently joined JVM-P has been given ticket from Chakradharpur (ST) for the forthcoming state assembly elections. JMM neglected Samad and assigned ticket to Sukhram Oraon. JVM-P is fighting the election without any ally.
BJP looks dejected
BJP is looking quite depressed after the debacle in Maharashtra and Haryana. The saffron party has failed to break Shiv Sena or other factions to form government in Maharashtra. This time magic of operation lotus (Kamal) was unable to blossom in Maharashtra; the Karnataka game can’t be played every time. The dominating nature of the BJP leaders’ has forced its NDA ally to part ways. It is needless to add no one would like to stay on sinking ship.
Seat-sharing formula an issue
The BJP and the AJSU party have formed all the governments together since the emergence of Jharkhand in 2000. But this time both the parties have failed to achieve seat-sharing formula despite several rounds of talks between the top brass of both the parties at different levels.
An old friend turns foe
BJP and AJSU both are rigid on their respective stand. Therefore AJSU announced the third list of eight candidates on Sunday for the forthcoming elections in the state. With the unveiling of 27 candidates name, the BJP and the AJSU have fielded their candidates against each other in 19 constituencies.
BJP announces a list of 72
Meanwhile, the saffron party has announced its 72 candidates name so far. Senior party leader and food, public distribution and consumer affairs minister in the Jharkhand cabinet Saryu Roy’s name was not featuring in the list. The disappointed leader doesn’t like to remain cool like cucumber, instead decided to contest polls as an independent candidate, taking on chief minister Raghubar Das from Jamshedpur (East). In 2014 elections he won from Jamshedpur (West).
Opposition blames BJP
The alliance trouble is soaring for the BJP in Jharkhand, the JMM-led opposition coalition’s chief ministerial candidate Hemant Soren said the allies of the saffron party are deserting the “sinking ship” as they know which way the wind is blowing. He further said “The BJP has no issue to raise”. Soren said, “this is because for five years they have just caused destruction in states ruled by them and they will have to answer in Jharkhand”.
Stalwarts in poll fray
Stalwarts of BJP have decided to address election meetings in Jharkhand to boost the party’s chance to come in power again. Union home minister Amit Shah will address the poll rally on November 21 and deliver speeches at Manika and Lohardaga that day, while another Union minister Nitin Gadkari will address a poll meeting at Bishrampur on November 22.
All the political parties are gearing up to show their strength in Jharkhand. This election is looking uncertain like the cricket match between the two tough opponents. The BJP and the opposition both are claiming to form the government in the state. But one thing is clear there is no Modi wave, so the opposition alliance is looking confident to provide a stiff challenge to the saffron party.
