Jharkhand Polls: BJP and Congress Announce First List of Candidates
BJP and Congress have announced their first list of candidates in Jharkhand for Assembly elections 2019.

As polling date nears in Jharkhand, the political parties are busy in finalizing the candidates’ list. Jharkhand BJP unit declared its first list of 52 candidates in the upcoming assembly polls in the state, beginning at the end of the month.

CM to fight from Jamshedpur (East)

Chief Minister Raghubar Das is set to contest from Jamshedpur (East), while Jharkhand BJP chief will challenge from Chakradharpur. BJP president JP Nadda released the list of the candidates and then declared that under Mr. Das’s leadership, corruption level has come down significantly, and people of the state experienced stable government and development.

Support from all sections

“An atmosphere of positive cooperation is seen in Jharkhand. Raghuvar Dasji is getting support from all sections of the society. Changes have been seen in the last five years due to the BJP government… Corruption has been prevented due to this, the state is moving towards development,” Mr. Nadda said.

Congress announces five names

Meanwhile, the Congress on Sunday announced its first list of five candidates ahead of the Jharkhand assembly polls. All these five candidates will be fielded in the first phase of elections. Party chief Rameshwar Oraon will contest from Lohardaga. Five phase elections in Jharkhand will start from November 30 to December 20. Counting will take place on December 23.

Soren face of CM

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), Congress and Lalu Prasad Yadav’s Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) had an alliance in the forthcoming assembly elections. Hemant Soren of JMM, is the face of chief ministerial candidate of the coalition.

The opposition hopes to do well

The opposition is upbeat after the results of Maharashtra and Haryana assembly polls, hoping to perform better than the 2014 elections. JMM and Congress bagged 19 and six seats respectively in the last assembly polls, while RJD failed to open its account. This time arithmetic is likely to change.

Pakur BJP leader resigns

Ahead of assembly polls Pakur district president of BJP Devidhan Tudu resigned on Monday from the party, alleging that he has been “ignored and his self-respect hurt.” This decision has disturbed the sleep of the top brass of the state BJP unit. Despite the tall claims by the chief minister of the state, fierce battle is ahead in the upcoming five-phase assembly polls in Jharkhand. Ruling and opposition both factions are warming up to show their strength
