The director of Dangal, Nitesh Tiwari has now come up with a college drama ‘Chhichhore’ which is like a lyrical poem on college, hostel life, friendships, fights, love interest, romance, ragging and so on and so forth.

Plot
Anirudh Pathak played by Sushant Singh Rajput plans a reunion with other college buddies under undesirable circumstances. But when they meet up, their reminiscences take them on a roller coaster trip down the memory lane, going back close to 20 years to their fascinating and eventful time in college!
Analysis
From the very beginning, you will notice glimpses of a lot of films on the same subject echoing every now and then. From reel ragging which ends up being comical unlike real life college ragging, canteen romance, nerdy boasters, to friendship that turns into a family, everything!
However, the intention was in good trim. There are no “film noir” elements in the film and neither has it promised anything of that sort. But it had indeed raised a lot of conjecture about the nostalgia of college life in its trailer which reflects on the film in abundance. It will bound you to a sentimental longing for a period in the past, which is their college days. However, the story line is very flimsy though the emotions are compelling.
The film uses flashback technique to take the viewers 20 years back, meaning the narrative goes back and forth frequently from now 40 year self to 20 year olds in the past, almost like a shuttlecock. And this is the USP of the film as well. At the same time, this ping-pong narrative creates confusion to some extent. But somehow manages to land at the right place eventually.
Talking about the look of the characters appears to be slightly absurd since to make the characters look 40 years old, too much hard work has been put in their hairline but ironically their skin looks younger than ever. On the other hand, men were privileged to get at least a touch in their hairline, whereas Shraddha Kapoor’s character remains untouched in terms of looks. Except her transition from flowy dresses to sophisticated looking cotton sarees, giving credence to the fact that women are not supposed to look old on the screen.
All in all, this film is relatable in terms of portrayal of the characters, their friendship, their colloquial language in which they converse. Despite its glitches here and there, Chhichhore manages to survive, and keep the audience engaged till the end.
