A Navjot Gulati’s film Jai Mummy Di is a rom-com from most of the cast of Pyaar Ka Punchnama, but with a different storyline altogether, if there’s any storyline in the first place.

Directed by- Navjot Gulati

Produced by- Bhushan Kumar, Krishna Kumar, Luv Ranjan, Ankur Garg

Starring- Sunny Singh, Sonnalli Seygall, Supriya Pathak, Poonam Dhillion

Plot

Laali played by Supriya Pathak and Pinky played by Poonam Dhillion are the neighbours who can’t stand each other. And these annoyingly screaky women and their brawl affects everyone including their adult children Puneet played by Sunny Singh and Saanjh played by Sonnalli Seygall.

Analysis

Honestly, when I purchased the ticket, if nothing I thought the rapture of seeing two aunties exchanging blows would be a guilty pleasure. That too two veteran actors like Supriya Pathak and Poonam Dhillion. But unfortunately, Mummy Di Jai is extremely spurious and frustrating.

Also, the title misleads you into believing that the story is about the two women and their dominion of their positions as mothers. But turns out that the film is obsessively focused on the love story that is cooking between the children of both the houses.

The Pyaar Ka Punchnama couple who are paired once again in this supposedly rom-com, is nothing but sheer disappointment. Their acting is outlandish, along with a lousy script, and noisy background score.

From the beginning to the end, the film is sold for that one curiosity that why these women fight? And this million dollar question will be answered after an entire 105 minutes long tedious tale. And the wait is not worth it.

Though, the film is not outrageously regressive nor progressive, not anything.
