Munnar

Parvati Valley

McLeod Ganj and Dharamsala

Dharamsala and its neighbouring town McLeod Ganj are excellent destinations when it comes to backpacking. These lush green towns are located at the foothills of Himalayas. Dharamsala is the second winter capital of Himachal Pradesh. The residence of the Dalai Lama is also located in Dharamsala. Both McLeod Ganj and Dharamsala are full of dense forests and you can easily trek through them. There are plenty of waterfalls here as well. The Dhauladhar Mountains are located close by and they happen to be a major attraction as well. The best time to visit these places is between June and September.

Jaisalmer

Jaisalmer, which is in the heart of Thar Desert, is a World Heritage Site. It has undulating sand dunes that are its chief tourist attraction. This city in Rajasthan, which is famous for its havelis and forts, is a popular attraction among backpackers. Within a radius span of 60 km of the city, the terrain is rocky and stony. The best time to Jaisalmer is during the winter season starting from October and ending in March.

Spiti

If you are a backpacker who loves to travel solo then this is perhaps the best destination for you. The valley has a really hard terrain that makes it an even better destination for bikers and trekkers who are looking for some adventure. Leh Ladakh
