Chhattarpur Temple, Delhi – The second largest temple complex in India

Spread over an area of 60 acres, Chhattarpur Temple in Delhi is India’s second largest temple after Akshardham. Dedication of its founder, Sant Shree Nagpal Baba the faith of devotees adds to the aura of the temple. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Katyayani and it also houses many large and small temples with magnificent statues of different deities. Interestingly, the temple complex is spread across either sides of the Chhattarpur road and showcases a blend of both, North and South Indian style of architecture.

There is a special sanctum or the ‘Shayya Kaksh’ which is considered to be the resting room of Goddess Katyayani and has a bed and dressing table made of silver. There is also a sacred tree in the temple’s compound, and every knot of thread tied to it narrates a story – a story of faith, a story of enthusiasm and religious fervor in the hearts of devotees.

Visit the temple early in the morning during Navratri and at 12 midnight during Poornamashi (full moon night) and you will be spellbound by its charm.
