Day 22 – Khed to Pen, Maharashtra (Kanyakumari to Leh Cycling)

I left from Khed at 6:20 am hoping to cover 50 kilometers before 9 am but little did I know about the initial climb of 10 kilometers that made me completely exhausted. I always have my breakfast after cycling from 15 to 20 kilometers but today I got nothing on my way as this climb took me from what I think remote areas with small villages in view far away downwards from the mountains. I cycled upslope on roads in good condition but when it came to downslope, the condition of the road compelled me to get down and walk or I would do some serious damage to the cycle.  My thighs were aching a lot from the last night as I think my body is not getting proper nutrition what it should get. I thought of taking an off today but I did not want to stay there, so I left for next destination, Mangaon, which was 70 kilometers from Khed.

Breakfast time

As I was riding on my way to Mangaon, I was already thinking of making it all the way up to Pen, Maharashtra, that is my next day pit stop so that I can reach Mumbai on Sunday. I reached Mangaon at 12:20 pm which made me go even farther, so I made my mind to reach Pen today itself whatever happens. Mumbai from Pen is about 75 kilometers that I could cover tomorrow easily.

Mumbai is still far

After riding for 149 kilometers, I reached Pen, Maharashtra at 4:40 pm, riding for 10 hours today. I got a bed in a dormitory at Pen and bought some fruits and had boiled eggs to help my body recover from its ruptured muscles. I will reach Mumbai tomorrow and I am pretty excited about it.
