Day 33 – Vadodara to Ahmedabad, Gujarat (Kanyakumari to Leh Cycling)

Outskirts of Ahmedabad

Staying in the Army area in Vadodara reminded me of my school days, as I have spent almost 15 years of my life living in Army areas. But after three days, it was time to take leave from Vadodara. I left for Ahmedabad at 6:15 a.m. While I was leaving the Army area, many Army personnel came to meet me while they were going for their daily morning exercise and wished me luck for my further journey.

There are two parallel roads from Vadodara that go to Ahmedabad. One is expressway on which no two wheelers are allowed, although it would have reduced my distance by 15-20 km; the other is the National Highway 8, which goes through Nadiad city and as I was cycling on it, I saw that most part of this route was under construction as the number of road lanes was being increased. The best part of cycling is that you do not get stuck in traffic jams, and I found at least 4-5 km long lines of trucks stuck in traffic jam but it didn’t affect me.

As I reached the outskirts of Ahmedabad, I stopped for some soda drink to cool off. People there started talking to me and were quite amazed listening me and called this journey a courageous act of mine. The guy there didn’t even let me pay for the soda.
