One other thing which caught my attention were oats that helps in reducing cholesterol, a common health hazard for most Indians. Oats as such may not excite kids and adults and so I was wondering how it can be introduced in their diet. So today I thought of making a healthy combination of both, oats and idli, and called it &#8216;Oats Idli&#8217;. The taste came out great and was loved by all. Serve them with home made <em>sambhar<\/em> and some <em>chutney<\/em>. Oats Idli are perfect for breakfast and serves as a satisfying meal. Try to prepare Oats Idli with this simple recipe and introduce something good to your family.<\/p>\n<h2>Ingredients needed for\u00a0Oats Idli<\/h2>\n<p>Oats &#8211; 1 cup<\/p>\n<p>Semolina &#8211; 1\/2 cup<\/p>\n<p>Grated carrot &#8211; 1\/4 cup<\/p>\n<p>Oil &#8211; 1 tbsp<\/p>\n<p>Mustard seeds &#8211; 1 tsp<\/p>\n<p>Heeng &#8211; 1\/4 tsp<\/p>\n<p>Curry leaves &#8211; 1 sprig<\/p>\n<p>Curd &#8211; 1\/2 cup<\/p>\n<p>Water &#8211; 1 cup<\/p>\n<p>Baking powder &#8211; 1\/2 tsp<\/p>\n<p>Coriander leaves &#8211; 1 tbsp (chopped)<\/p>\n<h2>How to make Oats Idli<\/h2>\n<p>Dry roast oats for 3-4 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>Grind the roasted oats in a grinder to make a smooth powder.<\/p>\n<p>Dry roast the semolina for 3-4 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>Mix semolina with powdered oats.<\/p>\n<p>Add grated carrot and coriander.<\/p>\n<p>Mix yogurt and water and make a batter.<\/p>\n<p>Heat oil in a pan.<\/p>\n<p>When the oil is hot, add mustard seeds, heeng and curry leaves.<\/p>\n<p>Add the <em>tadka<\/em> (tempering) to the batter.<\/p>\n<p>Add baking powder and mix well.<\/p>\n<p>Pour the batter in the idli molds and steam for 15-18 minutes, till done.<\/p>\n<p>Serve hot with chutney and sambhar.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Just few days back while travelling, I read in a health magazine that idlis are counted among the most healthy breakfasts in India.
