Instead, it allows the body to regenerate and heal the conditions for a longer duration.

What are stem cells?

Stem cells can also be called the ‘first cells’ of the body. The body’s first cells through which all other functions are generated. If cultivated, stem cells can divide and form new daughter cells that help with a patient’s regeneration or form blood cells, brain cells even heart muscle cells.

Stem cells are the only cell in our body that can regenerate. Therefore, these cells can be used to treat the targeted conditions of a patient. For example, a person suffering from heart disease can get implanted with a specific type of stem cells like heart muscle cells.

What is the source of stem cells?

• Embryonic cells: These are found in the embryo that is 3-5 days old. They can divide and also form different functional cells.

• Adults: Stem cells in adults are found in their bone marrow. Adult stem cells have limited regeneration capabilities, unlike embryonic stem cells. They’re also unable to form functional cells, although new research proves it might be possible.

How are stem cells provided?

Stem cells can be provided via IVs or injected directly into the problematic area or areas of concern. The administration of stem cells depends on the patient’s condition and needs.

Umbilical cord tissue stem cells

The cord tissue surrounds the umbilical cord that provides nourishment to a growing child. This tissue contains all life-giving cells like the nervous system, sensory organs, bones, heart muscle cells. If preserved over the years, this cord tissue can help regenerate the patient’s ailing cells as well as treat other conditions.

What are the benefits of stem cell therapy?

Stem cell therapy is a relatively new medical research. There is a lot more research that is required to understand its health and healing benefits fully. Nevertheless, stem cell therapy has saved the lives of millions suffering from cancer, autoimmune disorders or blood-related disorders.

What is stem cell therapy?
