People make clay idols of Ganesha and pray for prosperity and the festival culminates with the <em>visarjan<\/em> of this idol in a river, lake or sea. It is said that Ganesha loves the modaks which are offered to him on this festival. Traditionally, modaks were made with rice flour with generous fillings of <em>gud<\/em> and coconut. However, we can also make them with yet another Ganesha favourites, <em>motichoor<\/em>. Today I give you the recipe for Motichoor Modak and offer these as <em>prasad<\/em> to Lord Ganesha on the auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chathurthi.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Ingredients needed for\u00a0Motichoor Modak<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><em>Besan<\/em> &#8211; 2 cups<\/p>\n<p>Sugar &#8211; 1 cup<\/p>\n<p>Water &#8211; 3 cups<\/p>\n<p>Milk &#8211; 1\/4 cup<\/p>\n<p>Cardamom powder &#8211; 1 tsp<\/p>\n<p>Pistachios slivers &#8211; 1 tsp<\/p>\n<p>Orange colour<\/p>\n<p>Red colour<\/p>\n<p>Ghee for frying<\/p>\n<h2>How to make Motichoor Modak<\/h2>\n<p>Heat sugar with water to make sugar syrup with one thread consistency.<\/p>\n<p>Add milk and orange colour to the sugar syrup and keep aside.<\/p>\n<p>Add red colour in 1 tsp milk and keep aside.<\/p>\n<p>Make flowing <em>besan<\/em> batter.<\/p>\n<p>Heat ghee in a frying pan.<\/p>\n<p>Use a perforated spoon to pour the batter in the pan to make small <em>boondi<\/em>. Fry for 2-3 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>Drain the <em>boondi<\/em> and put in the syrup.<\/p>\n<p>Add cardamom powder and mix.<\/p>\n<p>Divide into equal portions and make into <em>modaks<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Garnish with pistachio slivers and apply little red milk as <em>tilak<\/em> on each <em>modak<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Cool the <em>Motichoor<\/em>\u00a0<em>Modaks<\/em> and serve.<\/p>\n<p>Enjoy Ganesh Chathurthi.
