Mites are tiny and invisible insects that lay eggs in our skin and burry them on it, which causes intense itching. Scabies is highly contagious; it can spread through direct contact of one person to another person, furniture or your clothes.

How is Scabies treated?

Scabies is usually treated through a combination of ointments and oral medicines. The ointment will help remove the mite infestation, and doctors mainly advise applying it during the night because that is when the mites are most active. Doctors also recommend regularly changing bed sheets and cleaning down furniture around, so any mites on them are also removed.

How can Scabies be prevented?

The first and foremost way to prevent Scabies is to stay away from someone you know who already has this condition. As it is highly contagious, it can rapidly spread into someone else. Therefore, you must maintain distance with that person and anything else they come into contact with. Other ways to prevent Scabies include washing clothes and bed sheets regularly and keeping your surroundings like furniture as much as clean as possible.

Scabies refers to a skin condition caused by mites called “Sarcoptes Scaibeis”.
