As per the religious sentiments, only specific items are allowed to be eaten during the daytime of these fasts, and one such item is <em>kheer<\/em>. <em>Kheer<\/em> can be made with many different ingredients; however, to be true to the festival spirit, I made Meve Ki Kheer today. This milk <em>kheer<\/em>\u00a0is made using many different varieties of dry fruits, including <em>makhane<\/em> or lotus seeds, <em>chironjee, kishmish<\/em> or raisins, <em>nariyal<\/em> or coconut, <em>badam<\/em> or almonds, <em>kaju<\/em> or cashews and <em>piste<\/em> or pistachios. And believe me, this mixture not only sounds amazing, but tastes heavenly! I like to serve it chilled, bu you can have this dish hot also.<\/p>\n<p><strong>All you need is (serves 4)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Full Cream milk &#8211; 1 lt<\/p>\n<p>Sugar &#8211; 1\/2 cup<\/p>\n<p><em>Makhane<\/em> &#8211; 4 cups<\/p>\n<p><em>Chironjee<\/em> &#8211; 2 tbsp<\/p>\n<p>Dry coconut &#8211; 1\/4 cup (grated)<\/p>\n<p><em>Kishmish<\/em> &#8211; 1\/4 cup<\/p>\n<p><em>Badam, Kaju, Piste<\/em> mixed &#8211; 1\/2 cup (crushed)<\/p>\n<h2>Meve Ki Kheer Recipe<\/h2>\n<p>Boil the milk in a heavy-bottom pan.<\/p>\n<p>Once it comes to a boil add all the dry fruits and let it cook on low flame for half an hour.<\/p>\n<p>Add sugar and cook for another min.<\/p>\n<p>Cool it in a refrigerator.<\/p>\n<p>Serve chilled.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Many important festivals in India, such as the Navratra and Durga Puja, are celebrated throughout India by devotees keeping fasts or vrats.
