Sold on every nook and corner, Pani Puri beats every other\u00a0<em>chaat<\/em>\u00a0when it comes to sale by volume. In different regions of the country, Pani Puri is known by various different names, such as\u00a0<i>gol gappe<\/i> in central and northern India, <i>gup chup<\/i> in Orissa, <i>puchka<\/i> in eastern India, <i>pani ke batashe<\/i>, and probably many more. The Pani Puri <em>chaat<\/em> is\u00a0generally sold in two variants: the one made from wheat, and the one from <i>sooji.<\/i>\u00a0While the wheat one is probably more famous, many people find their personal favorite in\u00a0<i>sooji<\/i>. These are eaten with fillings of potatoes (and sometimes, black grams),\u00a0tamarind chutney or <em>saunth<\/em>\u00a0(optional for people who like it sweet), and dunked in\u00a0<em>jal zeera<\/em> water, a potent appetizer. This <em>chaat<\/em> is\u00a0so famous that most of the non-residents and foreigners make it a point to try it while visiting India.<\/p>\n<p>Today I will tell you how to make this yummiest <i>chaat <\/i>at your home. Just follow this simple recipe and enjoy the time with your friends and family.<\/p>\n<h2>Ingredients needed for\u00a0Pani Puri<\/h2>\n<p><strong>(serves 4)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For <em>pani:<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Water: 4-5 cups<\/li>\n<li>Mint leaves: 1\/4 cup<\/li>\n<li>Green chili: 2<\/li>\n<li>Ginger: 1\/2-inch piece<\/li>\n<li><em>Amchoor<\/em> powder: 1\/2 tsp<\/li>\n<li><em>Chaat masala:<\/em>\u00a01\/2 tsp<\/li>\n<li>Cumin powder: 1\/4 tsp<\/li>\n<li>Black salt: a pinch<\/li>\n<li><em>Boondi<\/em>:\u00a0for garnishing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For the filling:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Boiled potato: 1<\/li>\n<li>Boiled black gram: 1\/4 cup<\/li>\n<li>Coriander leaves: 1 tsp (chopped)<\/li>\n<li>Salt to taste<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Puri<\/em>: 20-25<\/p>\n<h2><strong>How to make Pani Puri<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>For <em>pani<\/em>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Grind mint leaves, green chili and ginger in a blender till smooth.<\/li>\n<li>Mix this paste with rest of the ingredients, except <em>boondi<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li>Allow it to rest for 2-3 hours before serving.<\/li>\n<li>Garnish with <em>boondi<\/em> just before serving.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For the filling:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mix all the ingredients in a bowl and slightly mash with your fingertips.<\/li>\n<li>Make a small hole on top of the <em>puri<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li>Put a little filling inside the <em>puri<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li>Fill the <em>puri<\/em> with the <em>pani<\/em>\u00a0just have made.<\/li>\n<li>Eat it in one go.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Related Recipes:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mapsofindia.com\/my-india\/food\/bhel-puri\">Bhel Puri Recipe<\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mapsofindia.com\/my-india\/food\/papdi-chaat\">Paapdi Chaat Recipe<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>When it comes to chaat, one of the most famous in India is Pani Puri.
