The Dadasaheb Phalke Award is India’s premier film award. The Film Festival Secretariat, established by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, presents the awards at the annual National Film Awards Ceremony. The recipients are selected by a committee of eminent personalities honoured for their outstanding contributions to the development and growth of Indian cinema.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Government of India introduced the award, presented for the first time in 1969. It was introduced to commemorate Dadasaheb Phalke\u2019s contribution to Indian cinema. Dadasaheb is popularly regarded as \u2018the father of Indian Cinema\u2019. India\u2019s first full-length feature film was directed by him. The award is one of the most prestigious awards in the country.<\/span><\/p>\n

There are various film festivals and awards named after Dadasaheb Phalke. It includes Dadasaheb Phalke Film Foundation Awards, Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival, Dadasaheb Phalke Excellence Awards, etc. The Dadasaheb Phalke Award rewarded to the recipients comprises a Swarna Kamal medallion, a cash prize of Rs 10 Lakhs and a Shawl. <\/span>The are numerous prominent personalities who received this award, including Asha Parekh, Rajnikanth, Amitabh Bachchan, Vinod Khanna, K Viswanath, Manoj Kumar, Shashi Kapoor, Gulzar, Pran, Soumitra Chatterjee, K Balachander, D Ramanaidu, V K Murthy, and others.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dadasaheb Phalke Awards 2023<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n

This year the Dadasaheb Phalke Awards was organised on February 20, 2023. It was attended by various Bollywood and South Indian film celebrities. Among whom many of them received the award.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

  • Rudra: The Edge of Darkness (Hindi) received the Best Web Series Award.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Anupam Kher received the Most Versatile Actor Award.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • The television Series of the Year award was given to Anupama.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Zain Imam received the Best Actor in a Television series award for Fanaa.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Tejasswi Prakash received the Best Actress in a Television Series award.<\/span><\/li>\n
