What Is The Farmers’ Distress Index?<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n

The Farmers’ Distress Index is a new project undertaken by the government to decrease the mental pressure on farmers. It reduces the shock that a farmer goes through due to financial issues in his agriculture. The index aims to prevent the stress from spreading to the villages and remove the fear of their economic conditions.<\/span><\/p>\n

Founders of The Index<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n

Central Research for Dryland Agriculture (CRIDA) is under their managing head Indian Council of Agricultural Research(ICAR). CRIDA has created distress under ICAR. The index is created for the first time in India. It is an early distress system created for the benefit of the people. This first-time thing has already queries in the black. Therefore the name must be Emma.<\/span><\/p>\n

Aim of The Index<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n

Due to the fluctuations in the market, and the very unpredictable economy, the farmers suffer high mental pressure for it. The number of suicides is increasing due to many reasons. One of the mental happiness is just to see them. <\/span>The index is tracked before it becomes huge and problematic, allowing the center, state, and local government to take action against such distress present in the farmers. The loss of interest in agriculture is just unbelievable and sad.<\/span><\/p>\n

Methodology of The Index<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n

  • The main step is to find information regarding the distress present in the farmers, which is done through local newspapers and online portals.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  • When the news is confirmed to be genuine and the reality of that place, the farmers will be given 21 questions to answer politely and correctly. These 21 questions let us know a person better.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • The seven main indicators that help in grouping a system are used in this process. This index helps to understand whether a person is having a problem or is an issue for the issue.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  • The values for identifying the distress level are present in three terms.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  • The value 0-0.5 shows very low distress. 0.5-0.7 shows moderate, while everything above is a severe form of distress.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • The index will be given to the public for commenting because it had to be public for the person’s benefit.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    • The index helps in removing mental stress and prevents the farmers for anything.<\/span><\/li>\n
    • It allows us to understand the problems that arise greatly in a farmer\u2019s place.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
    • It checks whether the schemes are in use and the places should be more real as to why they are okay.<\/span><\/li>\n
    • The distress index helps in the future research of students. The research helps in determining the changes occurring in the place.<\/span><\/li>\n
    • The problems present for the farmers are usually due to economic issues, government issues, etc.<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme, National Commission on Farmers, and Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Scheme are some of the schemes present in India to benefit traditional agricultural places.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
