The Supreme Court of India unveiled “SuSwagatam,” a web-based tool that allows users to create online electronic passes for visitors to the highest court’s grounds. Everyone who must enter can apply for electronic passes via the SuSwagatam portal. It has been an effective measure to save time and effort for individuals.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the past, the practice required visitors to wait in line at the E-Sewa Kendra to obtain paper passes before admission into the court’s grounds.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What is SuSwagatam?<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n

SuSwagatam, according to the CJI, is a web-based and mobile-friendly software that enables users to register for accounts online and request e-passes for a range of activities. These activities are attending court hearings and meeting advocates and such processes. The “SuSwagatam” portal has been used as a trial project since July 25, 2023, users have given it positive feedback, according to Justice Chandrachud. The portal has issued over 10,000 e-passes as part of a test program.<\/span><\/p>\n

Early morning visitors are exempt from the line, and each pass is created online. This facility is offered for the benefit of society as a whole. The bench was informed by the present Solicitor General Tushar Mehta that a lengthy line used to form early in the morning to obtain an entry pass at the apex court’s counter. According to Justice Chandrachud, there is also a video lesson on how to utilize the application.<\/span><\/p>\n

How to use the SuSwagatam portal?<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n

Access-control entry\/exit software users can register themselves online and request e-passes for various activities, including attending court hearings, visiting office buildings, meeting with counsel as plaintiffs, or visiting the media lounge. <\/span>According to user demands and police clearance certificates, the new initiative allows users to select several validity periods for their e-passes. As part of the registration procedure, the portal offers role-based secure logins for various user types, where they can upload their identification documents and take live photos.<\/span><\/p>\n

At the entrance and exit gates of the court grounds, users can scan the QR code on their e-passes which are issued through email and accessible on the portal. During the testing phase, the portal granted over 10,000 e-passes. Rakesh Sharma, the additional registrar and spokesperson for the Supreme Court, said to the media that the portal can be viewed at https:\/\/suswagatam.sci.gov.in.<\/span><\/p>\n

Depending on their requirements and police clearance certificates, SuSwagatam gives consumers the option to choose multiple ePass validity durations. For various user types, the portal offers role-based secure logins where they can submit their proof of identity and take a live photo during the registration process. In addition to English, processes are working on the portal, which will soon be available in additional languages.
