The Swimming Federation of India (SFI) is India’s national governing body for aquatic sports. Its headquarters are in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, established in 1948. The SFI is a member of the Asian Swimming Federation (ASF) and FINA, the world’s governing body for swimming.<\/span><\/p>\n

History of the Indian Swimming Federation<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n

The Swimming Federation of India was founded in 1948 in Kolkata. Mr. P. S. Nayak served as the SFI’s first president. The Amateur Swimming Association of Great Britain (ASGB) was the SFI’s first affiliation. However, the SFI changed its affiliation to FINA, the World Swimming Federation, in 1958. <\/span>Over the years, the SFI has hosted a variety of regional, national, and international contests. The National Swimming Championships, Junior National Swimming Championships, and Senior National Aquatic Championships are some examples. Additionally, the SFI has sent athletes to compete in the World Championships, Asian Games, and Commonwealth Games.<\/span><\/p>\n
