I decided to go ahead and check out what my association \/ recall \/ first reaction with each of them is. Here is a rundown on the ranking with my comments \/ remarks \/ observations.<\/p>\n<p>1. Colgate &#8211; Not my regular toothpaste, use it when traveling or when presented with a free one in a travel kit.<\/p>\n<p>2. Dettol &#8211; Always at home, but Savlon is my strong second option.<\/p>\n<p>3. Clinic Plus &#8211; My head loves dandruff, Clinic Plus helps me control it.<\/p>\n<p>4. Lifebuoy &#8211; No user association, reminds me of\u00a0 &#8220;O boy, o boy Charlie, from <em>Matru Ki Bijli Ka Mandola<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>5. Lux &#8211; Not me. Blows millions on advertising.<\/p>\n<p>6. Maaza &#8211; Not good for me.<\/p>\n<p>7. Nokia &#8211;\u00a0A company which worked hard to make me shift from their brand to Samsung.<\/p>\n<p>8. Airtel &#8211; I am fed up with their line dropping challenges.<\/p>\n<p>9. Close-up &#8211; I am not supposed to be their user.<\/p>\n<p>10. Maggi &#8211; My daughter loves me for making it to her &#8220;exact taste&#8221; every time.<\/p>\n<p>11. Britannia &#8211; They make good biscuits and cookies but can&#8217;t get their packaging right. Their 5 Grain biscuits have a big-time packaging problem.<\/p>\n<p>12. Pepsi &#8211; Diet Pepsi!<\/p>\n<p>13. Thums Up &#8211; Works in the west &amp; south of India.<\/p>\n<p>14. Kurkure &#8211; A snack with MSG.<\/p>\n<p>15. Surf Excel &#8211; I need the one which is for top-loading and it is not always available.<\/p>\n<p>16.\u00a0Bata &#8211; Hmm&#8230; They still sell and keep innovating and tinkering with their business model all the time.<\/p>\n<p>17.\u00a0Rasna &#8211; Gave Surf a run for their money.<\/p>\n<p>18.\u00a0Frooti &#8211; Wrote a slogan for them in a slogan writing contest &#8211; &#8220;Best route to fruit&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>19. Vodafone &#8211; Have they managed their tax problems?<\/p>\n<p>20. Vicks &#8211; Don&#8217;t see it often.<\/p>\n<p>21. Dove &#8211; A soap sold beautifully.<\/p>\n<p>22. Tide &#8211;\u00a0I use it when I am in the US, it is always available next to the laundry machine for purchase.<\/p>\n<p>23.\u00a0Moov &#8211; Took on Iodex and won.<\/p>\n<p>24.\u00a0Good Knight &#8211; Can&#8217;t live without it.<\/p>\n<p>25. Pond&#8217;s &#8211; Still remember &#8220;sab kuch dikhta hai&#8221; and &#8220;Mummy jaisa sundar bana do na&#8221; campaigns.<\/p>\n<p>26. Mirinda &#8211; Kids and ladies who don&#8217;t drink vodka, drink Mirinda.<\/p>\n<p>27. Glucon-D &#8211; Always at home.<\/p>\n<p>28. Tata Salt &#8211; There never has been a serious challenge to its dominance.<\/p>\n<p>29. Parachute &#8211; Synonym for coconut oil.<\/p>\n<p>30. Ariel &#8211; I don&#8217;t differentiate between them and Tide.<\/p>\n<p>31. All Out &#8211; Brand confusion and dilution.<\/p>\n<p>32. Sunsilk &#8211; It is a shampoo.<\/p>\n<p>33. Pepsodent &#8211; Dented teeth?<\/p>\n<p>34. Bournvita &#8211; My daughter is a Bournvita girl \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>35. Fair &amp; Lovely &#8211; Is it the one which Shahrukh Khan uses?<\/p>\n<p>36. Rin &#8211; Was on my mother&#8217;s shopping list 30-40 years back.<\/p>\n<p>37. Parle Products &#8211; Parle G, the only biscuit with my morning tea.<\/p>\n<p>38. Cadbury Dairy Milk &#8211; Made chocolate a gifting option in India.<\/p>\n<p>39. Vim &#8211; Cleans utensils.<\/p>\n<p>40. 7UP &#8211; A clear soda.<\/p>\n<p>41. Samsung (Mobile Phones) &#8211; Almost an Apple iPhone at half the price or lower. I use it.<\/p>\n<p>42. Pantene &#8211; A shampoo.<\/p>\n<p>43. Head and Shoulders &#8211; A good shampoo.<\/p>\n<p>44. Coca-Cola &#8211; It is Coca Cola, I don&#8217;t drink.<\/p>\n<p>45. State Bank of India &#8211; The big Indian bank abused by political masters for personal favours.<\/p>\n<p>46. Horlicks &#8211; My grandfather and my father&#8217;s alternative to drinking milk.<\/p>\n<p>47. Big Bazaar &#8211; Air-conditioned, enclosed flea market \/ street market.<\/p>\n<p>48. Limca &#8211; It has no alternative.<\/p>\n<p>49. Sprite &#8211; A soda.<\/p>\n<p>50. Cinthol &#8211; A soap from Godrej.<\/p>\n<p>51. Slice &#8211; A mango drink.<\/p>\n<p>52. Santoor &#8211; A South-Indian beauty soap.<\/p>\n<p>53. Complan &#8211; A drink for kids which competes against Bournvita.<\/p>\n<p>54. BSNL &#8211; Politicians milked it dry.<\/p>\n<p>55. Fanta &#8211; Father of all orange-coloured sodas.<\/p>\n<p>56. Medimix &#8211; A soap for keeping allergies away.<\/p>\n<p>57. 5 Star &#8211; It was the chocolate I grew up with.<\/p>\n<p>58. Tata Tea &#8211; They bought Tetley.<\/p>\n<p>59. Godrej No1.\u00a0 &#8211; A bath soap.<\/p>\n<p>60. Johnson &amp; Johnson &#8211; A newborn \/ baby care brand.<\/p>\n<p>61. Boroplus &#8211; A cream for teenage girls.<\/p>\n<p>62. Fevicol &#8211; Good carpenter&#8217;s go-to brand for layering and pasting\u00a0jobs.<\/p>\n<p>63. Mortein &#8211; Something like Good Knight.<\/p>\n<p>64. Kissan &#8211; Sauces and juice-based concentrates.<\/p>\n<p>65. Zandu Balm &#8211; I prefer Amrutanjan.<\/p>\n<p>66. Sunfeast &#8211; ITC&#8217;s challenger to Britannia &amp; Parle.<\/p>\n<p>67. Munch &#8211; A chocolate?<\/p>\n<p>68. Amul &#8211; Kurien, Cooperatives, Operation Flood, Women empowerment, Responsible organization.<\/p>\n<p>69. Crocin &#8211; For mild fever.<\/p>\n<p>70. Garnier &#8211; Makes shampoos and creams, essentially a ladies brand.<\/p>\n<p>71. Wheel &#8211; Counter to Nirma by makers of Surf.<\/p>\n<p>72. Ujala &#8211; For keeping white clothes, white.<\/p>\n<p>73. Amrutanjan Balm &#8211; Solution for headache.<\/p>\n<p>74. Kit Kat &#8211; I prefer 5 Star.<\/p>\n<p>75. Lakme &#8211; India&#8217;s &#8220;make-up&#8221; brand, originally owned by the house of Tatas.<\/p>\n<p>76. Nirma &#8211; Made Unilever go back to marketing school.<\/p>\n<p>77. Vaseline &#8211; Poor man&#8217;s Nivea.<\/p>\n<p>78. Nestle Milk Chocolate &#8211; No recall of having had it.<\/p>\n<p>79. Bisleri &#8211; Bottled water in India is called Bisleri.<\/p>\n<p>80. Aashirvaad &#8211; Good quality aata, especially &#8220;Sharbati&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>81. Samsung &#8211; I trusted them 13 years back, it still works.<\/p>\n<p>82. Nescafe &#8211; For us, it was synonym for coffee.<\/p>\n<p>83. Lays &#8211; Before Lays there was Gold &#8216;n&#8217; Crisp, Binny&#8217;s and Uncle Chips. Lays&#8217; success killed G n C and Binny&#8217;s and they bought Uncle Chips.<\/p>\n<p>84. Harpic &#8211; Loos are cleaner.<\/p>\n<p>85. Boroline &#8211; Haven&#8217;t seen or heard for years. Was used for pimples and acne, I think.<\/p>\n<p>86. Dabur Hair Oil &#8211; Is it the same as Dabur Amla Hair Oil?<\/p>\n<p>87. Boost &#8211; It was the secret of Kapil Dev&#8217;s energy and later of Sachin&#8217;s.<\/p>\n<p>88. Rexona &#8211; It is a soap.<\/p>\n<p>89. Iodex &#8211; For muscle pain relief it was always Iodex, Moov came and Iodex was never the same again.<\/p>\n<p>90. Titan &#8211; My favourite watch brand and one of my favourite corporate entities.<\/p>\n<p>91. Oral-B &#8211; Status symbol among toothbrush brands.<\/p>\n<p>92. Babool &#8211; A medicinal toothpaste.<\/p>\n<p>93. Saridon &#8211; For headache.<\/p>\n<p>94. LG &#8211; Cheap consumer durables.<\/p>\n<p>95. Hamam &#8211; It was once &#8220;Tata ka Hamam&#8221;. Was not aware that it is still around.<\/p>\n<p>96. D&#8217;Cold &#8211; For relief from cold initiated headache.<\/p>\n<p>97. Hajmola &#8211; Necessary after a big Punjabi meal.<\/p>\n<p>98. Domex &#8211; Cleaning aid?<\/p>\n<p>99. Vivel &#8211; Shampoo &amp; Soaps from ITC, right?<\/p>\n<p>100.
