Professional Career<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n

Sunita Kejriwal was an Indian Revenue Services (IRS) officer from the 1993 batch who spent 22 years working in the Income Tax (I-T) division. In 2016, Sunita Kejriwal resigned voluntarily from the Information Technology department. Her most recent role was as an I-T commissioner at Delhi’s Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT). <\/span>Sunita was also employed by the Serious Fraud Investigation Office. She worked on cases for numerous well-known business enterprises.<\/span><\/p>\n

Role in Politics<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n

At a Bhopal training event, Sunita met Arvind Kejriwal, an IRS agent from the 1995 batch.\u00a0<\/span>Sunita fully supported Kejriwal’s decision to leave her position as an income tax officer. In her workplace and at home, Sunita fulfilled the responsibilities of an honourable officer, a mother of two little children, and a daughter-in-law who cared for her parents as they aged. At the same time, Kejriwal dedicated the next few years to her activism as an RTI activist and anti-corruption campaigner.<\/span><\/p>\n

Throughout the Aam Aadmi Party’s founding, the India Against Corruption movement, and the ensuing electoral campaigns, Sunita Kejriwal has been spotted with Arvind Kejriwal. <\/span>She managed Kejriwal’s medication and food during the India Against Corruption movement, supporting the cause. To assist her husband’s political aspirations, Sunita took a significant leave of absence from her job during Kejriwal’s difficult electoral campaign against Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Varanasi during the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.<\/span><\/p>\n

When AAP won 28 seats in its first election, and Kejriwal was chosen as a New Delhi MLA, she was present with Kejriwal at the party’s Hanuman Road headquarters for the festivities. <\/span>Ahead of the 2022 Punjab Assembly elections, Sunita Kejriwal campaigned in the state for her “devar”, Bhagwant Mann. <\/span>She has also been observed with Kejriwal at religious gatherings, such as the Ram temple in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, or the Lakshmi puja held during the Diwali celebrations at the Akshardham temple.<\/span><\/p>\n

Since his detention on March 21, Sunita Kejriwal has used video messages to defend Arvind Kejriwal and has twice provided the public with information on his health. <\/span>In a recent video message, Sunita Kejriwal discussed her husband’s health, highlighting his firm resolve while also citing his diabetes and changing blood sugar levels. She added that Arvind Kejriwal plans to provide essential details about the purported excise policy fraud in court and evidence about the whereabouts of criminal proceeds.<\/span><\/p>\n
