These all healthy eggs can be used to make many dishes and today I used them to make Egg Dum Biryani. Boiled eggs are cooked with some <em>masala<\/em> and then layered into the Biryani rice to give a great taste. Egg Dum Biryani should be served with some <em>raita<\/em> for best pairing and goes well either in lunch or dinner. It is easier to make as compared to a meat <em>biryani<\/em> and matches the taste to similar level. The biryani goes well with everyone and is a good option for a small party. Let&#8217;s look at the Egg Dum Biryani Recipe and enjoy any day of the week with your choice of <em>raita<\/em>.<\/p>\n<h2>Ingredients needed for\u00a0Egg Dum Biryani<\/h2>\n<p><strong>(serves 4)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Eggs &#8211; 6<\/p>\n<p><em>For Masala<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Oil &#8211; 2 tbsp<\/p>\n<p>Onion &#8211; 1 cup (sliced)<\/p>\n<p>Ginger garlic paste &#8211; 1 tsp<\/p>\n<p><em>Dahi<\/em> &#8211; 1\/2 cup<\/p>\n<p>Tomato &#8211; 1\/2 cup (cut in small pieces)<\/p>\n<p>Lemon juice &#8211; 1 tsp<\/p>\n<p>Fresh <em>dhania<\/em> &#8211; 2 tbsp (chopped)<\/p>\n<p>Red chili powder &#8211; 1 tsp<\/p>\n<p>Turmeric powder &#8211; 1\/2 tsp<\/p>\n<p>Salt to taste<\/p>\n<p><em>For Rice<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Desi ghee<\/em> &#8211; 1 tbsp<\/p>\n<p>Rice &#8211; 2 cup<\/p>\n<p>Cloves &#8211; 2 to 3<\/p>\n<p><em>Tejpatta<\/em> &#8211; 1<\/p>\n<p><em>Badi elaichi<\/em> &#8211; 1<\/p>\n<p><em>Dal chini<\/em> &#8211; 1 stick<\/p>\n<p>Black pepper corn &#8211; 4 to 5<\/p>\n<p>Salt to taste<\/p>\n<p><em>For Layering<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Yellow food color &#8211; 1 pinch<\/p>\n<p>Onion &#8211; 1 cup (sliced and deep fried to golden brown)<\/p>\n<p>Cashew nuts &#8211; 8 to 10 (fried to golden brown)<\/p>\n<h2>How to make Egg Dum Biryani<\/h2>\n<p>Preparation time: 20 min.<\/p>\n<p>Cooking time: 30 min.<\/p>\n<p>Boil the eggs, peel and keep aside.<\/p>\n<p><em>For Masala<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Take oil in a <em>kadhai<\/em>, and fry onions till golden brown.<\/p>\n<p>Add ginger garlic paste, fry for a min, then add tomatoes and <em>dahi<\/em> and fry another min.<\/p>\n<p>Add all dry<em> masala<\/em>, lemon juice and fresh <em>dhania<\/em> and fry for 2-3 min.<\/p>\n<p>Cut the boiled eggs into halves and add to the <em>masala<\/em>. Keep aside.<\/p>\n<p><em>For Rice<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Add ghee in a pan, add all whole spices and fry for 20-30 sec.<\/p>\n<p>Add washed rice with double amount of water and salt and cook till 80% done.<\/p>\n<p><em>For Layering<\/em><\/p>\n<p>In a heavy bottom pan, take 1\/3rd rice, layer it with 1\/2 egg masala, yellow color, fried onions and cashew nuts.<\/p>\n<p>Layer another 1\/3rd rice, followed with remaining egg masala, yellow color, fried onions and cashew nuts.<\/p>\n<p>Layer rest of rice, cover it tightly and cook on 10-15 min on low heat.<\/p>\n<p>Serve hot.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>When you want to have something non vegetarian, but don&#8217;t want to go for meat, egg is a great option.
