    Opening Match and\u2002Venue Information<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n

    The season opener will be played <\/span>on\u2002March 22<\/span> in <\/span>Kolkata’s<\/span> Eden Gardens between defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). The tournament opener and final\u2002on May 25 will <\/span>be held<\/span> at Eden Gardens, which has a 68,000 capacity. It will be the third time that Eden Gardens will host the IPL final, its previous two stints coming in\u20022013 and 2015.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Tournament Format<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n

    The\u2002format for IPL 2025 remains as follows:<\/span><\/p>\n

    Group Stage:<\/span><\/strong> Ten teams will be split\u2002into two groups of five. All teams play 14 matches\u2014playing the other four in their own group home and away, the team in the same row of\u2002the opposite group home and away, and the remaining four opposite group teams once.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Points System:<\/span><\/strong> Teams earn points based on wins to finish a unified points table in the\u2002top four to qualify for the playoffs.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Qualifier 1:<\/span><\/strong> The top two teams face off;\u2002the winner advances straight to the final<\/span><\/p>\n

    Eliminator:<\/span><\/strong> The third and fourth-placed teams face off; the<\/span> loser is out<\/span><\/p>\n

    Qualifier 2:<\/span><\/strong> The loser of Qualifier 1 plays the\u2002winner of the Eliminator; the winner reaches the final.<\/span><\/p>\n

    This allows teams to have several chances to advance to the finals, keeping\u2002competition and intrigue until the very end of the tourney.<\/span><\/p>\n
