The name tells its main ingredient is the green leaves of <em>sarson<\/em> or mustard. If you have ever traveled through the northern states in the winter months, you would know what great peace you get looking at the green and yellow color in full bloom. Once you stop at any home or restaurant in the region, one of the delicacies served is Sarson Ka Saag, it is generally served with <em>makke ki roti, <\/em>white\u00a0butter and some <em>gud<\/em> (jaggery) on the side. We shall see how to make this <em>roti<\/em> in another article, let&#8217;s today see this Sarson Ka Saag Recipe and enjoy this amazing season.<\/p>\n<h2>Ingredients needed for\u00a0Sarson Ka Saag<\/h2>\n<p><strong>(serves 4)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Sarson<\/em> leaves &#8211; 400 gms (chopped)<\/p>\n<p><em>Bathua<\/em> leaves &#8211; 1oo gms (chopped)<\/p>\n<p><em>Palak<\/em> leaves &#8211; 100 gms (chopped)<\/p>\n<p>Onion &#8211; 2 cup (sliced)<\/p>\n<p>Ginger &#8211; 1 inch piece (sliced)<\/p>\n<p>Garlic &#8211; 8 to 10 cloves (cut in small pieces)<\/p>\n<p>Green chili &#8211; 4 to 5 (cut in small pieces)<\/p>\n<p>Makki ka aata &#8211; 2 tbsp (mix in 1 tbsp water to make a paste)<\/p>\n<p>Salt to taste<\/p>\n<p>Oil &#8211; 4 tbsp<\/p>\n<h2>How to make Sarson Ka Saag<\/h2>\n<p>Preparation time: 15 min.<\/p>\n<p>Cooking time: 15 min.<\/p>\n<p>Add oil in a pan, add onion, garlic and ginger and saute for 3-4 min.<\/p>\n<p>Add green chili and chopped <em>sarson<\/em> leaves and cook for 1-2 min.<\/p>\n<p>Add chopped <em>bathua<\/em> and <em>palak<\/em> leaves with salt and cook for 1-2 min.<\/p>\n<p>Add makki ka aata paste and cook till all leaves are done.<\/p>\n<p>Blend this in a mixie to a smooth paste.<\/p>\n<p>Again cook the paste on medium heat for 3-4 min.<\/p>\n<p>Serve hot.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Related Recipe<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Makki Ki Roti\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mapsofindia.com\/my-india\/food\/makki-ki-roti\">Makki Ki Roti<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Straight from the green fields of Punjab comes this delectable recipe of Sarson Ka Saag.
