Mangodi, made from <em>moong dal<\/em>, can be made at home or purchased from the market. It can be used to make various dishes like <em>mangodi aaloo,\u00a0<\/em>etc. Today I mixed it with some fresh <em>methi<\/em> leaves to make Methi Mangodi Pulao. The <em>pulao<\/em> turned out just great and all in the family had a nice lunch with <em>raita<\/em> and <em>achaar<\/em> on the side. Enjoy it for your next lunch or dinner.<\/p>\n<p><strong>All you need is (serves 4)<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Rice &#8211; 2 cup<\/li>\n<li>Mangodi &#8211; 1 cup<\/li>\n<li>Fresh Methi leaves &#8211; 1 cup (chopped)<\/li>\n<li>Mustard seeds &#8211; 1 tsp<\/li>\n<li>Garlic paste &#8211; 1 tsp<\/li>\n<li>Ginger paste &#8211; 1 tsp<\/li>\n<li>Curry leaves &#8211; 8 to 10<\/li>\n<li>Tomato &#8211; 1 cup (cut in small pieces)<\/li>\n<li>Red chili powder &#8211; 1\/2 tsp<\/li>\n<li>Turmeric powder &#8211; 1\/2 tsp<\/li>\n<li>Salt to taste<\/li>\n<li>Oil &#8211; 2 tbsp<\/li>\n<li>Green coriander for garnishing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Methi Mangodi Pulao Recipe<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Preparation time: 10 min.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Cooking time: 25 min.<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Boil the rice and drain the water. Wash this rice with cold water and keep aside.<\/li>\n<li>In a pan take 1 tbsp oil and fry the <em>mangodi<\/em>. Keep aside.<\/li>\n<li>Heat the rest of oil and add mustard seeds. When they start to crackle, add curry leaves, ginger paste and garlic paste. Saute for 2 min.<\/li>\n<li>Add tomatoes and saute till the oil starts leaving the sides.<\/li>\n<li>Add all the dry <em>masala<\/em> and saute for 2-3 min.<\/li>\n<li>Add fried <em>mangodi<\/em> with 2 cup water and cook till it is soft.<\/li>\n<li>Add <em>methi<\/em> leaves and saute for 1-2 min.<\/li>\n<li>Add boiled rice and mix well.<\/li>\n<li>Garnish with green coriander and serve hot.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I always keep some mangodi at home as it comes in handy when I&#8217;m short of vegetables and want to make a main course.
