It is very famous in the North India, while in the south a similar variety is also known with a name of Badushah. I&#8217;m fairly sure a lot of you would have tried this sweet at some point of time and now reading about it, you would want to taste it again. Balushahi is made with <em>maida<\/em> and <em>desi ghee<\/em> among other ingredients. It can be kept a few days in an air tight container so you can make it in advance of the celebrations. You can look to serve it as a dessert or just use it to crave your sweet feelings. It is not too difficult to make it at home and you can use this Balushahi Recipe to treat yourself to another amazing Indian sweet.<\/p>\n<p><strong>All you need is (makes about 15 pieces)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Maida<\/em> &#8211; 1 &amp; 1\/2 cup<\/p>\n<p>Salt &#8211; 1 pinch<\/p>\n<p>Baking soda &#8211; 1\/4 tsp<\/p>\n<p>Baking powder &#8211; 1\/4 tsp<\/p>\n<p><em>Desi ghee<\/em> &#8211; 3 tbsp<\/p>\n<p>Dahi &#8211; 3 tbsp<\/p>\n<p>Cold water &#8211; 4 tbsp<\/p>\n<p>Oil for frying<\/p>\n<p>Dry fruit slivers for garnishing<\/p>\n<p>Silver foil for garnishing<\/p>\n<p><em>For Sugar Syrup<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Sugar &#8211; 1 &amp; 1\/2 cup<\/p>\n<p>Water &#8211; 1\/2 cup<\/p>\n<p>Cardamom powder &#8211; 1\/2 tsp<\/p>\n<h2>Balushahi Recipe<\/h2>\n<p>Preparation time: 10 min.<\/p>\n<p>Cooking time: 45 min.<\/p>\n<p>Sieve the <em>maida<\/em>, baking powder, baking soda and salt.<\/p>\n<p>Add <em>desi ghee<\/em> and mix well.<\/p>\n<p>Add <em>dahi<\/em> and mix well.<\/p>\n<p>Use cold water to knead a dough, cover and keep for 15\/20 min.<\/p>\n<p>Make about 15 balls with the dough and press them in the middle.<\/p>\n<p>Heat oil in a <em>kadhai<\/em> and fry the balls on low heat till brown in color. Let them cool.<\/p>\n<p>Add sugar, water and cardamom powder to make a two string consistency sugar syrup.<\/p>\n<p>Dip the<em> balushahi<\/em> in sugar syrup and let them dry in a plate.<\/p>\n<p>Garnish with dry fruit slivers and silver foil.<\/p>\n<p>Serve fresh or store in air tight container.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Balushahi is a traditional Indian sweet made for special celebrations.
