As kids, we used to look forward to <em>holi<\/em> to play in colors and use loads of water. It also marks the onset of summer season and people start to pack up their winter clothing. I also looked forward to it for the special delicacies like <em>gujiya<\/em> and Thandai. Just to get all prepared up and revisit my recipes, I made Thandai today. Absolutely enjoyed the taste, the yellowish tinge comes with the <em>kesar<\/em> added to it. You can serve it to your guests anytime of the day and they are sure to enjoy the lovely taste. It can go well as a welcome drink or with your food or if you like call it a <em>holi mocktail<\/em>. You can prepare it with this Thandai Recipe, get it perfected before the festival and enjoy it with full enthusiasm.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Ingredients needed for\u00a0Thandai<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>(serves 4)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Milk &#8211; 3 cup<\/p>\n<p>Sugar &#8211; 4 tsp<\/p>\n<p><em>Kesar<\/em> &#8211; few strands (dip it in 1 tsp milk)<\/p>\n<p>Rose water &#8211; 2 tsp<\/p>\n<p>Poppy seeds &#8211; 1 tsp<\/p>\n<p><em>Saunf<\/em> &#8211; 1 tsp<\/p>\n<p>Melon seeds &#8211; 1 tsp<\/p>\n<p><em>Kali mirch<\/em> &#8211; 10 to 12<\/p>\n<p><em>Choti Elaichi<\/em> &#8211; 8 to 10<\/p>\n<p><em>Badam<\/em> &#8211; 10 to 12<\/p>\n<p>Dry fruit slivers for garnishing<\/p>\n<h2>How to make Thandai<\/h2>\n<p>Preparation time: 10 min.<\/p>\n<p>Making time: 15 min<\/p>\n<p>Soak poppy seeds, <em>saunf<\/em>, melon seeds, <em>kali mirch, choti elaichi<\/em> and <em>badam<\/em> in about 1\/2 cup water for 3-4 hours.<\/p>\n<p>Blend the soaked ingredients and water to a smooth paste.<\/p>\n<p>Mix in cold milk and strain the mixture.<\/p>\n<p>Add rose water, <em>kesar<\/em> milk and sugar and mix well.<\/p>\n<p>Garnish with dry fruit slivers.<\/p>\n<p>Serve.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Holi is just round the corner and it is one of the biggest festivals in India.
