Each of these <em>dal <\/em>dishes have their fan following. While it is always nice to have your loved <em>dal<\/em>, let&#8217;s today see how to make Tadka Urad Dal.\u00a0This <em>urad\u00a0dal<\/em> is generally made a bit dry with a nice onion <em>tadka<\/em> on the top. It goes well in any of the main course with <em>roti<\/em> and other curries and has its own distinct taste. Let&#8217;s see this Tadka Urad Dal Recipe and enjoy its great taste.<\/p>\n<h2>Ingredients needed for\u00a0Tadka Urad Dal<\/h2>\n<p><strong>(serves 4)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>For Dal<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Dhuli urad dal<\/em> &#8211; 2 cup<\/p>\n<p>Water &#8211; 4 cup<\/p>\n<p>Turmeric powder &#8211; 1 tsp<\/p>\n<p>Salt to taste<\/p>\n<p>Ginger &#8211; 1 tsp (grated)<\/p>\n<p>Garlic &#8211; 1 tsp (cut in small pieces)<\/p>\n<p><em>Desi ghee<\/em> &#8211; 2 tsp<\/p>\n<p><em>For Tadka<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Desi Ghee<\/em> &#8211; 3 tbsp<\/p>\n<p>Zeera &#8211; 1 tsp<\/p>\n<p>Onion &#8211; 2 (cut in large strands)<\/p>\n<p>Dry red chili &#8211; 4<\/p>\n<h2>How to make Tadka Urad Dal<\/h2>\n<p>Preparation time: 10 min.<\/p>\n<p>Cooking time: 20 min.<\/p>\n<p>Wash and soak the <em>dal<\/em> in water for about half and hour before preparation.<\/p>\n<p>Add <em>dal<\/em> with water, turmeric powder, salt, ginger, garlic and ghee in a pressure pan and cook for 2 whistles.<\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">For Tadka<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Heat ghee in a <em>tadka<\/em> pan, add <em>zeera<\/em> and when it starts to crackle, add onions.<\/p>\n<p>Fry till they are brown and crispy.<\/p>\n<p>Add dry red chilies and red chili powder and cook for about a min.<\/p>\n<p>Pour the <em>tadka<\/em> over the <em>dal<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Serve hot.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; Dal (lentils) has been an Indian staple diet for ages.
