Today I used a<em> masala<\/em> from my favorite mango pickle to make a <em>pulao<\/em>.\u00a0Achaari Chana Pulao is a great main course dish. Cooked by mixing this<em>\u00a0masala, chana <\/em>and\u00a0rice, it gives a tangy taste and is very filling. This <em>pulao<\/em> can be made if you have <em>chana subzi<\/em> leftover or even without. Make it anytime you wish and it everyone would be pleased. The <em>pulao<\/em> can be served with your choice of <em>raita<\/em> for a perfect combination. Let&#8217;s see this easy\u00a0Achaari Chana Pulao Recipe.<\/p>\n<p><strong>All you need is (serves 4)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Mango pickle <em>masala<\/em> &#8211; 2 tsp (you can take some out of your pickle or buy this from the market)<\/p>\n<p><em>Basmati<\/em> rice &#8211; 1 cup<\/p>\n<p><em>Chana <\/em>(chickpeas)\u00a0&#8211; 1 cup<\/p>\n<p>Black cardamom &#8211; 2 to 3<\/p>\n<p>Cinnamon stick &#8211; 1 inch piece<\/p>\n<p>Cloves &#8211; 4 to 5<\/p>\n<p><em>Saunf<\/em> &#8211; 1 tsp<\/p>\n<p><em>Kalongi<\/em> &#8211; 1 tsp<\/p>\n<p><em>Methi<\/em> &#8211; 1 tsp<\/p>\n<p>Mustard seeds &#8211; 1 tsp<\/p>\n<p>Cumin seeds &#8211; 1\/2 tsp<\/p>\n<p>Bay leaves &#8211; 2 to 3<\/p>\n<p>Ginger &#8211; 1\/2 tsp (grated)<\/p>\n<p>Green chilies &#8211; 1\/2 tsp<\/p>\n<p>Onion &#8211; 1\/2 cup (cut in small pieces)<\/p>\n<p>Turmeric powder &#8211; 1\/2 tsp<\/p>\n<p>Red chili powder &#8211; 1\/2 tsp<\/p>\n<p>Salt &#8211; 1 &amp; 1\/2 tsp<\/p>\n<p><em>Ghee<\/em> &#8211; 2 tsp<\/p>\n<h2>Achaari Chana Pulao Recipe<\/h2>\n<p>Preparation time: 20 minutes<\/p>\n<p>Cooking time: 20 minutes<\/p>\n<p>Soak the <em>chana<\/em> overnight, pressure cook for 10 min. Keep aside.<\/p>\n<p>Heat <em>ghee<\/em> in a pan, crackle cumin seeds, add bay leaves, cloves, black cardamom, cinnamon, <em>methi, kalonji, saunf<\/em> and mustard seeds.<\/p>\n<p>Add onion and saute until it turns translucent.<\/p>\n<p>Add ginger and green chili, turmeric powder, red chili powder, salt and saute for 2 min.<\/p>\n<p>Add <em>chana<\/em> and mango pickle <em>masala<\/em> and mix.<\/p>\n<p>Add rice with 2 &amp; 1\/2 cup water and cook on medium heat till done.<\/p>\n<p>Serve hot.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Achaar is a constant main course accompaniment for me, as it is for a lot of fellow Indians.
