So I thought why not just give it out as a recipe. <em>Hing<\/em> Poori is another popular Bengali dish and it goes well with most Indian curry preparations. As the name suggests it is flavored with <em>Hing<\/em> or asafoetida. In this Indian context this is considered good as a digestive agent and used in a lots of curries and preparing <em>tadka<\/em>\u00a0for the <em>dal<\/em>. You can serve it in any of the main course or breakfast and it gives a nice aroma and taste. So don&#8217;t wait any more and make <em>Hing Poori<\/em> for your meals today with this recipe. Enjoy!<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Ingredients\u00a0(serves 4)<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>For the dough<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Maida<\/em> &#8211; 2 and 1\\2 cup<\/li>\n<li>Salt &#8211; 1\\2 tsp<\/li>\n<li>Oil &#8211; 2 tbsp and for frying<\/li>\n<li>For the filling<\/li>\n<li><em>Urad dal<\/em> &#8211; 1cup<\/li>\n<li>Ginger &#8211; 1 inch piece ( grated )<\/li>\n<li>Oil &#8211; 2 tbsp<\/li>\n<li><em>Hing<\/em> &#8211; 1\/4 tsp<\/li>\n<li>Cumin seeds \u00a0&#8211; 1\\2 tsp<\/li>\n<li>Fennel seeds &#8211; 1\\2 tsp<\/li>\n<li><em>Garam masala<\/em> powder &#8211; 1\\2 tsp<\/li>\n<li>Dry mango powder &#8211; 1\\2 tsp<\/li>\n<li>Salt to taste<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>How to make Hing Poori<\/h2>\n<p>Preparation time: 10 minutes<\/p>\n<p>Cooking time: 30 minutes<\/p>\n<p><strong>For the dough<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mix <em>maida<\/em>, salt and 2 tbsp oil in a bowl.<\/li>\n<li>Make a soft dough using water.<\/li>\n<li>Cover and keep aside for 1\/2 an hour.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>For the filling<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Wash and soak the<em> Urad dal<\/em> in enough after for 2 hours.<\/li>\n<li>Strain the water and grind the<em> dal<\/em> with ginger to make a coarse paste.<\/li>\n<li>Heat oil in a pan.<\/li>\n<li>When the oil is hot, add cumin seeds, <em>hing<\/em> and fennel seeds.<\/li>\n<li>Add the ground dal, <em>garam masala<\/em> powder, dry mango powder and salt.<\/li>\n<li>Fry for 5 -6 minutes till dry.<\/li>\n<li>Remove from heat and keep aside.<\/li>\n<li>Assembling the poories<\/li>\n<li>Make small balls from the dough.<\/li>\n<li>Slightly spread it using a rolling pin.<\/li>\n<li>Keep a small amount of filling in the center and bring the ends together.<\/li>\n<li>Dust and roll the <em>poories.<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Heat oil in a pan.<\/li>\n<li>Deep fry the<em> poories<\/em> from both the sides till puffed and golden brown.<\/li>\n<li>Serve with <em>cholar dal<\/em> or <em>aloo ki sabzi<\/em>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Few days back when I made Bengali cholar dal, few people asked me whats the best bread accompaniment for it.
