The biggest weapon this election is turning out to be \u2018words.\u2019 It is interesting to watch how many politicians are chiselling, sharpening, and mincing their words no more, so that when uttered they hit the target bang on.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s look at the volley of words that flew from various politicians today. We have modified them a bit to make it more interesting.<\/p>\n

Finance Minister P. Chidambaram: Modi has deep character flaws. He represents crony capitalism. And Yashwant Sinha! Oh! He is a distant memory for the people of India, I hope he remains that.<\/p>\n

(Chidambaram was referring to Narendra Modi who is the Bharatiya Janata Party Prime Ministerial candidate and Yashwant Sinha who is a BJP leader and the former Finance Minister of India.)<\/p>\n

Reacting to these statements, BJP\u2019s spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad had this to say:<\/p>\n

BJP\u2019s spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad: Yashwant Sinha is a distant memory!!! Ha! Chidambaram is suffering from selective memory. He is lying through his teeth when he is accusing Modi<\/a> of crony capitalism. What about his decision not to contest the elections? His decision to run away from the polls itself is an open confession by the Congress that there is no will to fight.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile in a town in Assam, Narendra Modi screamed:<\/p>\n

BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Modi: Assam government is killing rhinos to make way for Bangladeshi immigrants.<\/p>\n

(Guess he has still not heard about the \u201ccharacter flaw\u201d remark by Chidambaram.) He continued\u2026<\/p>\n

BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Modi: Yes, I am very serious about this allegation. The Assam government is conspiring to kill the rhinos to vacate land for the Bangladeshi immigrants.
\n(Please note Assam is run by a Congress government.)<\/p>\n

What a logic! Rhino land for Bangaldeshi immigrants\u2026we have to give it to him for coming up with such statements that are bursting with logic.<\/p>\n

Modi is not finished yet. In another rally in Arunachal Pradesh, he said:<\/p>\n

BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Modi: Sonia, don\u2019t teach us what patriotism is all about!<\/p>\n

(Modi was referring to Congress President Sonia Gandhi.)<\/p>\n

Then from somewhere, Nationalist Congress Party Chief Sharad Pawar shouted:<\/p>\n

NCP Chief Sharad Pawar: Modi is talking rubbish. He has to be treated in a mental hospital.<\/p>\n

Wow! That is something coming from NCP Chief Sharad Pawar. He may not have been directly reacting to the above mentioned statements by Modi, but his reaction simply fits like hand-in-glove to Modi\u2019s scathing attacks. Now, imagine if Modi actually becomes the Prime Minister. Going by Pawar\u2019s words, this would mean that most of the Indian citizens will have to be treated in mental hospitals for choosing a mad person. Wah re politics!<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, a very confident Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal had this to say:<\/p>\n

AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal<\/a>: I did not flee from my responsibility as the Chief Minister of Delhi. It needed lots of guts to give up the post. This election has the potential to be the turning point in the history of the country. If Kumar Vishwas can defeat Rahul Gandhi, then Congress will be finished. It is because of the Gandhi family, Congress is united today. And, if we can defeat Modi from Varanasi, BJP will be finished.<\/p>\n

Yes Kejriwal, everyone will be finished. End of the story.<\/p>\n

To add to this madness, BJP leader Uma Bharti said:<\/p>\n

BJP leader Uma Bharti: Modi is not a good orator. He still has a long way to go to become Atal Bihari Vajpayee.<\/p>\n

Wonder what Modi has to say to this. Strange, he has to fight people outside as well as within… or for all you know, he may take her remark in his stride. (Atal Bihari Vajpayee is the former Prime Minister of India.)<\/p>\n

Now, when everyone is saying something or the other, why should Sonia Gandhi be left behind. She was in Haryana today and said:<\/p>\n

Congress President Sonia Gandhi: The BJP\u2019s only goal is to capture the Prime Ministerial seat. They are hiding their dark deeds, changing disguises and shedding crocodile tears.<\/p>\n

Talking about tears, someone\u2019s anger and tears took her to the BJP Vice President Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi’s official residence. She is none other than Sabir Ali\u2019s wife Yasmin. She sat in front of his house and shouted:<\/p>\n

Sabir Ali\u2019s wife Yasmin: Naqvi, prove the allegations against my husband or apologize!<\/p>\n

Sabir had joined BJP after being ousted from Janata Dal (United), only to be removed from the party few hours later. Apparently Naqvi had alleged that Sabir had links with terrorists.<\/p>\n

Phew, enough of verbal diarrhoea for a day. Let\u2019s take a look at the other political developments that took place.<\/p>\n

Boogie Woogie director Javed Jaffery will now get into a different type of dance \u2013 the political dance. Yes, he is being pitched by AAP against BJP\u2019s Rajnath Singh in Lucknow. For those who don\u2019t know, Javed Jaffrey is a dancer and a comedian and is one of the directors of Boogie Woogie – an Indian dance competition television series for kids. With Jaffery\u2019s induction, AAP can hope to add some jazz to their campaigns through some apt moves choreographed by the man himself \u2013 Hip-hop for Kejriwal, Contemporary for Kumar Vishwas\u2026.now, that\u2019s a big Booo for Jaffery!<\/p>\n

This kind of development at times makes one wonder \u2013 can anyone become a politician just like that\u2026without any prior ground work?<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the once television bahu is all set to take on the most eligible bachelor of India. Yes, BJP has pitched actor turned politician Smriti Irani against Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi in Amethi in Uttar Pradesh.<\/p>\n

AAP candidate and former journalist Mukul Tripathi, who was supposed to take on Union Minister Salman Khurshid from Farrukhabad constituency has dropped out. He said he was returning the ticket because the party was corrupt. AAP reacted to it saying that it is they who had dropped Tripathi and not the other way round. What is the truth? Who knows? And who wants to find out?<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, BJP and Telegu Desam Party (TDP) are contemplating an alliance but there are some issues in the permutation and combination. The BJP had supported bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh<\/a>, while TDP chief Chandra Babu Naidu was against it. On this basis, will the alliance hurt each other? On the flip side, for Naidu, who has been out of power for 10 years, a tie-up with BJP could result in some gains while the BJP can surely make use of Naidu\u2019s organisational skills and strength among party cadre. On this basis, will the alliance prove fruitful?<\/p>\n

Politics is all about gaining from one another and no politician will let go waste a situation from which they can gain. Let\u2019s wait and watch what happens. Be there with us as we cover the political drama that this election is slowly unfolding.<\/p>\n
