Not just that I love them eating them, I also use them for many of my recipes to give a unique and delicious taste. Just today I used the <strong>raw mangoes or <em>amiya<\/em> <\/strong>as we call them to make my day to day <em>dal<\/em> extra tasty. The tangy flavor of the <em>dal<\/em> went very well with the rice and <em>chapati<\/em>\u00a0and everybody enjoyed the meal. It is a very simple addition and let&#8217;s you go out of ordinary in regular meals. I&#8217;ll share more mango recipes as we go through the season, however for now use this Amiya Ki Dal Recipe and enjoy it any day you like.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Ingredients\u00a0(serves 4)<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Toor dal<\/em> &#8211; 1 cup<\/li>\n<li>Salt to taste<\/li>\n<li>Turmeric powder &#8211; 1\/2 tsp<\/li>\n<li>Water &#8211; 4 cup<\/li>\n<li><em>Amiya<\/em> &#8211; 1\/2 cup (peeled and sliced)<\/li>\n<li><em>For Tadka<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Desi ghee<\/em> &#8211; 1 tbsp<\/li>\n<li><em>Heeng<\/em> &#8211; 1 pinch<\/li>\n<li><em>Zeera<\/em> &#8211; 1\/2 tsp<\/li>\n<li>Red chili powder &#8211; 1\/2 tsp<\/li>\n<li>Dry red chilies &#8211; 3 to 4<\/li>\n<li>Fresh <em>dhania<\/em> leaves to garnish<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>How to make Amiya Ki Dal<\/h2>\n<p>Preparation time: 10 min.<\/p>\n<p>Cooking time: 20 min.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Add salt, turmeric powder, <em>amiya<\/em> and water to <em>dal<\/em> and cook in a pressure cooker till done.<\/li>\n<li>Mash the remaining pieces of <em>amiya<\/em>\u00a0in <em>dal<\/em> as needed. Keep aside.<\/li>\n<li><em>For Tadka<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Heat <em>desi ghee<\/em> in a pan, add <em>heeng, <\/em>dry red chili and <em>zeera<\/em> and when it starts to crackle, switch off heat and add red chili powder.<\/li>\n<li>Mix the <em>tadka<\/em> in the <em>dal<\/em> and mix thoroughly.<\/li>\n<li>Garnish with fresh <em>dhania<\/em> leaves.<\/li>\n<li>Serve hot with rice or<em> chapati<\/em>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mangoes are coming back in season and I&#8217;m all too excited for them.
