The typical North Indian restaurant serves dishes made Punjabi style, which use thick gravies, e.g., a paste of cashew nuts, oil, cream, etc. These dishes go well with<em> naan, paratha<\/em>, etc., and leave you longing for more even when you are filled up. I picked up baby potatoes today for my meals\u00a0and made Punjabi Dum Aaloo in authentic style. I&#8217;m still relishing the taste of the curry as I write. Serve it with your homemade Indian breads and enjoy the taste!<\/p>\n<p><strong>All you need is (serves 4)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Baby potatoes &#8211; 1\/2 kg<\/p>\n<p>Onion &#8211; 2 cup (chopped)<\/p>\n<p>Ginger paste &#8211; 1 tsp<\/p>\n<p>Garlic paste &#8211; 1 tsp<\/p>\n<p>Tomato puree &#8211; 2 tbsp<\/p>\n<p><em>Dahi<\/em> &#8211; 1\/2 cup<\/p>\n<p><em>Kaju tukra<\/em>\u00a0&#8211; 1\/4 cup<\/p>\n<p>Turmeric &#8211; 1\/2 tsp<\/p>\n<p>Red chili powder &#8211; 1 tsp<\/p>\n<p>Coriander powder &#8211; 2 tsp<\/p>\n<p>Salt to taste<\/p>\n<p>Sugar &#8211; 1 tsp<\/p>\n<p>Lemon juice &#8211; 1 tbsp<\/p>\n<p>Fresh cream &#8211; 1\/4 cup<\/p>\n<p>Oil &#8211; 1\/4 cup<\/p>\n<p>Fresh <em>dhania<\/em> for garnishing<\/p>\n<p><strong>Punjabi Dum Aaloo Recipe<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Preparation time: 10 min.<\/p>\n<p>Cooking time: 30 min.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Blend the cashew nuts with a little water to make paste. Keep aside.<\/li>\n<li>Boil the baby potatoes, peel and shallow-fry in oil until golden brown. Keep aside.<\/li>\n<li>Heat oil in a <em>kadhai<\/em>, add onions and fry till light-brown.<\/li>\n<li>Add ginger and garlic paste and fry till onions are golden-brown.<\/li>\n<li>Add all dry <em>masala<\/em> and fry for 2 min.<\/li>\n<li>Add <em>dahi<\/em>, tomato puree, and cashew nut paste with a little water and fry till oil starts to leave the sides.<\/li>\n<li>Add lemon juice, sugar, baby potatoes and 1 cup water and bring to a boil.<\/li>\n<li>Add fresh cream and cook for a min.<\/li>\n<li>Garnish with fresh <em>dhania<\/em> leaves.<\/li>\n<li>Serve hot.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The cuisine of Punjab is famous not just in India but the world over.
