CISCE conducts the <strong>ICSE<\/strong> examination for <strong>Class Xth<\/strong> and the <strong>ISC<\/strong> examination for <strong>Class XII<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The ICSE is a K-10 Public Board examination for students who have completed the class X. Students in this class have the following subject choice:<\/p>\n<p>Seven subjects are to be taken up, of which<strong> four<\/strong> are compulsory and <strong>three<\/strong> have a choice of subjects.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Compulsory subjects<\/strong>: English, Environmental Education and SUPW (Socially Useful Productive Work)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Students have to choose 3 to 5 subjects from the following:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>One Indian language<\/li>\n<li>One Foreign language<\/li>\n<li>One Classical language<\/li>\n<li>English Literature<\/li>\n<li>Commerce<\/li>\n<li>Economics<\/li>\n<li>Accounts<\/li>\n<li>Business Studies<\/li>\n<li>Geography<\/li>\n<li>Psychology<\/li>\n<li>Sociology<\/li>\n<li>History<\/li>\n<li>Civics<\/li>\n<li>Political Science<\/li>\n<li>Physics<\/li>\n<li>Chemistry<\/li>\n<li>Biology<\/li>\n<li>Mathematics<\/li>\n<li>Electricity and Electronics<\/li>\n<li>Engineering Science<\/li>\n<li>Computer Science<\/li>\n<li>Geometrical and Mechanical Drawing<\/li>\n<li>Geometrical and Building Drawing<\/li>\n<li>Environmental Science<\/li>\n<li>Biotechnology<\/li>\n<li>Home Science<\/li>\n<li>Fashion Designing<\/li>\n<li>Physical Education<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>General Perception of CISCE system vs CBSE system<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Both Boards have their advantages and areas of focus. The CBSE system has more schools affiliated to it and therefore the choice of schools is greater when a student relocates to another city within India.<\/p>\n<p>The CISCE is generally perceived as being tougher than CBSE system with the marking criteria tougher than the CBSE. This is the reason that students under the CBSE system tend to score higher percentage marks when compared to CISCE students. In fact, several universities and educational institutions offer additional mark weightage to students of the CISCE system to compensate the marking differential with the CBSE students, when evaluating students for admissions.<\/p>\n<p>The CBSE system is more suited for students keen on appearing for competitive examinations like IIT-JEE, All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) and the All India Pre Medical Test (AIPMT), as the exam content relies on the CBSE content.<\/p>\n<p>However, the CISCE system offers a comprehensive approach to learning that encourages understanding and application of concepts.
