Not often do we get to see a soldier\u2019s life when he is off duty. A.R. Murugadoss\u2019s Holiday<\/em>, breaks away from this shell by focusing on the loyalties of a duty bound soldier even while he is off-duty. Apparently a remake of a Tamil film called Thuppakki<\/em>, Holiday<\/em> not only aims to glorify the feelings of soldier but also urges the civilians to imbibe in themselves a sense of duty towards their country!<\/p>\n Plot:<\/strong> A captain in the Defence Intelligence Agency of the Indian Army, Virat Bakshi, returns to his home for a holiday. But soon he finds himself engaged in a mission to protect the city from a sleeper cell head who wants to destroy the country by blasting the whole nation.<\/p>\n Performances:<\/strong> Akshay Kumar is a complete package when it comes to describing an actor like him! Action, comedy, romance, drama, good looks, he has got everything in abundance! And in Holiday<\/em>, he yet again steals the show with his proficiency of syncing with the character. With his deadly stunts and gob smacking action sequences, he is truly the unbeaten king of action!<\/p>\n Sonakshi Sinha does yet another plastic cameo of her career. With merely a 15 minutes screen presence, she almost looks like a forced character in the film. Even those 15 minutes are wasted in her usual sulking drama.<\/p>\n A good surprise comes from Sumeet Raghavan, known for his role in Sarabhai vs. Sarabhai, who turns out to be a fantastic combination with Akshay!<\/p>\n The villain, Freddy Daruwala, is no good in portraying the negative shades of a terrorist.<\/p>\n Music:<\/strong> Musical sensation Pritam comes to work after a long time. Holiday<\/em> has six tracks in all and makes for an average composition. Songs like Tu hi toh hai<\/em> and Aaj dil Ishqana<\/em> have been doing on good on the charts.<\/p>\n What\u2019s Good:<\/strong> The best thing about Holiday<\/em> is the novelty in its projection of an army man. It doesn\u2019t merely talk about army in relation to Border and Pakistan, but develops a sense of duty in the common masses. The pace of the movie is crisp and keeps you engaged throughout. Akshay Kumar is absolutely a treat to watch! As a movie, Holiday is a complete entertainer!<\/p>\n What\u2019s Bad:<\/strong> The duration of the movie is the first thing that disturbs the mind. The editing should have been tauter. Sonakshi Sinha is a sheer wastage and could have been dropped upon. Characters except that of Akshay Kumar, lack proper designing. The sub-plots are half baked and over-stretched.<\/p>\n Despite of its shortcomings, Holiday<\/em> qualifies for a good time entertainer solely because of Akshay Kumar! This gem of an actor is completely in form and impresses the audience yet again with his stupefying action dexterity. The movie sends out a winsome message that touches the heart.
