Only if there was a limit to being stupid, we could have been saved from the torture of some half-witted films in Bollywood. Making someone laugh is probably one of the most difficult tasks in the world. While the directors in Bollywood have been endeavouring to do so, not many have actually succeeded in their trials. This week\u2019s release, Welcome to Karachi turns out to be yet another failed attempt. As a political satire, the film takes up terrorism as its mainstay.<\/p>\n

Plot:<\/strong> Two best friends, Shammi and Kedar, set out on a private cruise trip. A heavy storm in the sea washes them ashore to Karachi in Pakistan. What follows is a goofy ride of dim-witted humour!
\nPerformances: Arshad Warsi does his best to bring out rib-tickling fun in the film. Unfortunately, the content of the film fails to support him much.<\/p>\n

Jackky Bhagnani has improved upon his performance in every film. In this one too, he does an impressive job in perfecting the Gujarati accent and an idiotic character.<\/p>\n

Lauren Gottlieb has a blink-and-miss sort of a role in the film. The only good part is her dance on an item number \u2018Shakira\u2019.<\/p>\n

Music:<\/strong> The music album of Welcome to Karachi turns out to be as insane as the film. Not even a single song has lyrics worth listening to The soundtracks are unappealing, to say the least!<\/p>\n

What\u2019s Good:<\/strong> A genuine performance by both the actors definitely needs to be appreciated. Despite being a poorly crafted satire, the film does have its moments of laughter.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s Bad:<\/strong> Dumb humour that tends to get dumber as the film progresses. A half-baked plot makes the film go absolutely haywire. The second-half becomes unbearably boring and stretchy.<\/p>\n

Welcome to Karachi could have been a powerful satire on terrorism had the film been much more tight and crisp. This is director Ashish R Mohan\u2019s second film after Khiladi 786, which was way better than this one. While the film continuously oscillates between funny and dull moments in the first-half, it loses itself completely in the second.<\/p>\n

Verdict:<\/strong> The song \u201cChal bhag nai toh G pe laat padegi\u201d should be a good hint for you to decide whether to watch it or not.<\/p>\n
