The murder of teenager Aarushi Talvar and the servant of the family Hemraj had shocked the entire nation. Five-year long investigation and extensive media coverage, it was a highly controversial case. After six years since the incident took place, the case has been re-opened in theatres with Talvar.<\/em> Meghna Gulzar\u2019s direction, fine actors like Konkana Sen Sharma and Irrfan Khan appeared to be the pillars of strength for the movie. \u00a0Let us see how it turned out to be.<\/p>\n Plot<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n The plot is the same as that of the real incident which took place in 2008. 14-year-old Shruti Tandon (Ayesha Parveen) and the domestic help, Khempal, are found dead in the house. Parents of Shruti, father Ramesh Tandon (Neeraj Kabi) and Nutan Tandon (Konkana Sen Sharma) are considered to be the prime suspects in the murders. Multiple investigations take place handled by three different teams – Noida Police team, headed by DG Gurbachan Singh, Gajraj Rao, and S.P. Shankar Singh; CDI team, headed by Ashwin Kumar (Irrfan Khan); and finally other CDI team, headed by Jai Dixit Kumar (Shishir Sharma). The movie manifolds three different perspectives of investigations and the case.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Performances<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n The script of the story is the real hero of the film and for this Vishal Bhardwaj definitely deserves applause. The extensive research he has done about the case is evident from the minute details being featured in the film.<\/p>\n Irrfan Khan is as usual at his best; with every other scene he gets more intense in his role and establishes his character brick by brick. He holds the film together throughout.<\/p>\n Konkona and Neeraj have also given their best in portraying the roles of the parents. Sohum Shah, who plays Irrfan\u2019s wingman, has given an excellent performance. All the other supporting actors have done justice to their respective roles.<\/p>\n Tabu made a special appearance in the film and has looked subtle in her role.<\/p>\n Meghna Gulzar, who is back in direction after eight years, has done a tremendous job. She maintains the tension, thrill and mystery throughout the film that is a part of the narrative.<\/p>\n Music<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n The music album comprises four songs: all composed by Vishal Bhardwaj. In an intense movie like Talvar<\/em>, one can\u2019t expect loud music. We all have followed the Aarushi murder case and the movie shows the investigations and things we were never shown earlier. Sensationalism of the media and the loopholes of the investigations is an eye-opener for many of us. Moreover, no character in the movie is fictitious; the director and the writer have kept the originality intact with real-life characters.<\/p>\n What\u2019s Bad?<\/strong><\/p>\n As such, nothing at all! The story is strong \u2013 well researched and well-featured. The entire team\u00a0has given their best. The only thing that could have been avoided would be the personal life of Ashwin Kumar, played by Irrfan Khan. Also, the movie is pro-Talwars, and shows them somewhat innocent \u2013 which might be disagreed by a section of the audience.<\/p>\n Verdict<\/strong><\/p>\n The time and effort devoted on the research is evident in the film.
