Sequels have become a new trend and funda<\/em> for success in Bollywood in recent times! This week\u2019s release, Pyaar ka Punchnama 2,<\/em> also falls in the same category of sequels. The movie has garnered attention and created excitement amongst youngsters ever since its promo was released. Surely, the credit goes to its prequel for creating a positive impact on the audience. The concept and theme of the film appeared the same as its prequel, in the trailers and promotions; however, a little change has been made in the star cast. The makers have retained a few stars and have launched some newcomers. The prequel of the movie did not gain much attention initially, but gradually it garnered popularity, especially among youngsters. Let us see if PKP2, an \u2018ode to relationships\u2019, is able to bring the same charm as compared to its prequel sans Liquid (the character of the part I whom we all have loved!).<\/p>\n

Plot<\/h3>\n

The story is about three boys who are friends and live together \u2013 Anshul aka Gogo (Kartik Aaryan), Siddharth aka Chauka (Sunny Singh) and Tarun aka Thakur (Omkar Kapoor). All three are well-settled in their respective jobs with Thakur drawing the highest salary (3 lakhs per month!). It is because of Thakur\u2019s high income that Gogo and Chauka get to live a king size life, which includes a swanky flat, unlimited drinks and partying hard. It is the entry of their girlfriends in their individual lives which brings a change in their little world. Gogo falls for Ruchika aka Cheeku (Nushrat Bharucha), Chauka goes bonkers over family-oriented Supriya (Sonalli Sehgal) and Thakur\u2019s heart beats for Kusum (Ishita Raj). How their relationships take a swing and how they manage the ups and downs of their love life is what the movie is all about.<\/p>\n

Performances<\/h3>\n

The entire movie revolves around the three lead pairs and all the six actors\/actresses have done a commendable job in their respective roles. All of them have looked comfortable throughout the film and imbibed the role of the characters they are playing really well. The child-actor turned hero Omkar Kapoor is a charmer; he has looked handsome, yet simple and has also proved himself as a decent actor. Even in the strip tease scene, he has looked extremely confident and comfortable.<\/p>\n

Sunny Singh Nijjar is a show stealer. Portrayed and referred by his friends as \u2018almost sardar\u2019 in the movie due to his appearance, his performance is the best among the three boys. His character might remind you of Liquid from the prequel, but, Sunny has his own style of acting and way of delivering dialogues. He is intense in dramatic or emotional scenes. The \u2018puppy sound\u2019 in the background puts him in the category of the poor lad, which will make you laugh.<\/p>\n

Kartik Aaryan, who is a repeat from the prequel, has given a decent performance once again. His most anticipated monologue is mind blowing and fantastic. Besides some other punch lines in the movie, the monologue will surely make you whistle, clap, laugh or even jump off from your seats.<\/p>\n

Talking about the actresses, all of them have been featured again in the sequel. The ladies have given their best efforts in their respective roles. As the script of the film demands them to be caricatured as mean, selfish and bimbo; they all have managed to carry it off really well. Nushrat is shown as a bimbo for whom nail polish, short dresses, hand bags and BFF means everything. She has worked hard to portray a funny character. Ishita, shown as a girl who enjoys life on her boyfriend\u2019s earnings, even though after saying that she does \u2018no negotiation\u2019 in paying for her share; has given a genuine performance. Sonalli, as a family oriented girl, has also done justice to her role.<\/p>\n

The direction and the dialogues are also good. The movie is based in Delhi\/NCR and the director has thankfully shot the scenes within the same region. The dialogues are really funny at times and the punch lines are humorous. The monologue deserves applause.<\/p>\n

Pyaar ka Punchnama 2 Music<\/h3>\n

Although, there are only four songs in the music album, all have their own style and genre. The songs are well placed and pictured in the film. \u201cHeeriye\u201d, a playback by Mohit Chauhan, is a soulful and romantic number which can be heard repeatedly. \u201cSharabi\u201d is yet another song about \u2018daaru\u2019 \u2018sharab\u2019 and \u2018botal\u2019, a style and phrases which are commonly used these days in most of club songs. \u201cParo\u201d is an interesting catchy number with funny Hinglish lyrics. The background score is nice; you get to hear the same punch line from the prequel in the background – \u2018bandh gaya patta, dekho ban gaya kutta\u2019.<\/em><\/p>\n

What\u2019s Good?<\/h3>\n

The natural and decent performance by all the actors is worth watching. The lifelike characters and situations are picturised well; one can easily relate to them. The dialogues and the punch lines will offer you lots of laughable moments. Overall, the movie is quite entertaining.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s Bad?<\/h3>\n

It is old wine in a new bottle. <\/strong>The plot of the script is almost the same as it was in the prequel \u2013 there are only situational changes. Some people may find this movie to be misogynist. But, one has to realize that it is from the boys\u2019 point of view. Hopefully director Luv Ranjan will try to show the girls\u2019 side of the story next time.<\/p>\n

Verdict<\/strong><\/p>\n

The tag line of \u2018Pyaar ka Panchnama 2\u2019<\/em> is \u2018Love is injurious to health\u2019; but, this movie is surely not injurious to anything. It\u2019s a must-watch either with your partner or partners in crime.<\/p>\n
