This exclusive piece of architecture was built by Raja Rai Singh and is counted among the most revered forts in Rajasthan. The Junagarh Fort is know by other popular names \u2013 Chintamani and Old Fort.<\/p>\n<p><b>Location<\/b>: Bikaner, Rajasthan<\/p>\n<p><b>Visiting Hours<\/b>: 10:00 am to 5:00 pm (entry closes at 4:00 pm)<\/p>\n<p><b>Closed on<\/b>: Fridays<\/p>\n<p><b>Time required to explore the fort<\/b>: 2-3 hours<\/p>\n<p><b>Key attractions<\/b>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Karan Pol \u2013<\/b> It is the east-facing main entrance of the fort that is guarded by two colossal elephant statues.<\/li>\n<li><b>Karan Mahal<\/b> (or the Public Audience Hall) \u2013 Adorned with pure white marble and stucco designs, the palace is a classic example of Rajput architecture.<\/li>\n<li><b>Phool Mahal<\/b> \u2013 The palace is decorated with glass inlay, stucco work, motifs and rose water sprinklers.<\/li>\n<li><b>Gaj Mandir<\/b> \u2013 Intricately decorated and embellished walls of this apartment, speaks of the artistic excellence of that era. Gorgeous panels, carvings and designs here are indeed impressive.<\/li>\n<li><b>Anup Mahal <\/b>or the Privy Council Room \u2013 The &#8216;golden&#8217; charm of this palace will surprise you with gold varnish work, mirrors and glass mosaics.<\/li>\n<li><b>Hawa Mahal<\/b> \u2013 Palace where the King used to rest during summers.<\/li>\n<li><b>Badal Mahal<\/b> \u2013 Because of its blue and white interiors, it is also called the &#8220;Hall of Clouds.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li><b>Prachina Museum or Fort Museum<\/b> \u2013 Preserves armory of post medieval period. Besides this, you will find an extensive collection of manuscripts, carpets, royal costumes and exhibits of artistic excellence.<\/li>\n<li><b>Other attractions<\/b> \u2013 Dungar Niwas, Durbar Hall, Vikram Vilas.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Tips<\/b>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Cameras are allowed inside the fort but photography is prohibited in some sections.<\/li>\n<li>Eatables are not allowed inside. Carry water.<\/li>\n<li>Co-operate during the security check-up.<\/li>\n<li>Both, private and government appointed guides are available there. Many visitors prefer audio guide to explore the fort.<\/li>\n<li>Beware of hawkers.<\/li>\n<li>Wear comfortable foot wear.<\/li>\n<li>Umbrella and waterproof gears are a must for monsoons.
