It is a must-have sweet for all the festivals and is considered auspicious. The<em> kheer<\/em> is made by dry roasting vermicelli to a golden brown color till a nice aroma starts to come from it and then milk and other flavorings are added to give a nice and creamy<em> kheer<\/em>. This<em> kheer<\/em> can be relished hot as soon as it is made or can be kept in the refrigerator and had chilled. So here is the recipe.<\/p>\n<h2>Ingredients needed for Seviyan\u00a0Kheer<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Full cream milk &#8211; 1 litre<\/li>\n<li>Vermicelli\/ <em>Semiyaan<\/em> &#8211; 1 cup<\/li>\n<li><em>Ghee<\/em> &#8211; 1 tbsp<\/li>\n<li>Sugar &#8211; 1 cup<\/li>\n<li>Cardamom powder &#8211; 2 tsp<\/li>\n<li>Almonds and cashew nuts \u00a0&#8211; 1\/4 cup (cut into slivers)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>How to \u00a0make Vermicelli Kheer Recipe<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Add <em>ghee<\/em> in a heavy bottom pan.<\/li>\n<li>Add vermicelli and roast till slightly browned.<\/li>\n<li>Remove from the pan and keep aside.<\/li>\n<li>Add milk in the pan and let it come to a boil.<\/li>\n<li>Add the roasted vermicelli and simmer the heat.<\/li>\n<li>Cook on low heat for 15-20 minutes, until the vermicelli are soft.<\/li>\n<li>Add sugar and cardamom powder and cook for another minute.<\/li>\n<li>Garnish with almonds and cashew nuts.<\/li>\n<li>Serve warm or you can chill it in the refrigerator and serve cold.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Tips<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Add sugar only when the vermicelli are cooked nicely, otherwise they will not cook properly.<\/li>\n<li>You can adjust sugar according to your taste and can even add sugar free substitutes.<\/li>\n<li>If you are chilling it in the refrigerator, add extra 1\/4 cup of milk as it will thicken with time.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Vermicelli kheer or semiyaan kheer is a very popular dessert in south India.
