About Movie Akira<\/h2>\n

As a remake of the Tamil hit movie named Mouna Guru <\/i>(2011), Akira has been directed by AR Murugadoss of Ghajini<\/i> and Holiday <\/i>fame \u2013 the films that have rocked cinemas for weeks and months together. Akira is an intelligent thriller that keeps you glued to your seat throughout the length of the film. With Sonakshi Sinha in the lead role, Akira also marks the acting debut of super talented director, Anurag Kashyap. Others talented actors including Konkana Sen Sharma, Amit Sadh, Teena Singh, Urmila Mahanta and Atul Kulkarni are also seen in important roles.<\/p>\n

Plot<\/h3>\n

Portraying the role of Akira on-screen is Sonakshi Sinha, the actor, who has done an excellent job in the movie. The strong-willed girl, Sonakshi’s Akira moves from Jodhpur to Mumbai to pursue higher studies. Later, unintentionally, she lands herself into trouble and gets targeted by a rude policeman, played by Anurag Kashyap. Akira fights for all things right and breaks many a bone without bending or breaking her rules. And then, she is accused of a crime she does not commit; during this phase, everything changes and her life takes a U-turn, she loses her friends, family and even her own identity. Will she emerge as a strong-willed girl she once was, who loves to challenge the rules, or will she be reduced to a bone? Will the policeman and his croonies get punished by Akira? These are the questions that would be answered in the movie.<\/p>\n

Performances<\/h3>\n

With Akira, Sonakshi Sinha has delivered one of her best on-screen performances. Her action sequences are slick and stylised and it appears as if the \u201cDabangg\u201d actor is the B-town’s original action ‘hero’. Her tight kicks are worth a watch, and she’s literally the best part of the movie.<\/p>\n

Then there is director-turned-actor Anurag Kashyap, who plays the role of a high-ranking police officer. His performance is decent, too, given that it’s his first feature-length film as an actor. His attitude of being unapologetic about his misdeeds makes him quite a watch.<\/p>\n

Yet another actress who has done a brilliant job in the film is Konkana Sen Sharma. She plays a heavily pregnant police officer, who is way above corruption. Her sequences in the flick will undoubtedly keep you engaged and you\u2019ll believe her character more than ever.<\/p>\n

Akira Music<\/h3>\n

The music album of Akira has \u201cRajj Rajj Ke\u201d as the opening track. It is high on beats and is perhaps the track that portrays an angst-ridden Akira in the best possible manner. The track has a lot of resemblance to Badlapur\u2019s \u201cJee Karda\u201d and has been shot in a similar way. Available in three different versions, \u201cRajj Rajj Ke\u201d has one of its versions sung by the lead actor herself, Sonakshi Sinha. The original track has been superbly sung by Nahid Afrin and Vishal Dadlani and the remix version is for the club houses.<\/p>\n

Next is \u201cBaadal\u201d which is an emotional number and has been excellently sung by Sunidhi Chauhan. The track misses something and doesn\u2019t find an instant connectivity with the listeners.<\/p>\n

Then there is \u201cPurza\u201d which has the mind-blowing vocals by Arijit Singh. While the lyrics of the track are a bit disappointing, Arijit has crooned it quite well.<\/p>\n

Next in the music album is \u201c\u201dKehkasha Tu Meri\u201d, which is the hindi version of popular Marathi song \u201cHaravali Pakhre\u201d from Balak Palak. The song hasn\u2019t come out as per the expectations and its essence has completed faded away.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s Good?<\/h3>\n

Sonakshi Sinha\u2019s outstanding performance has been the major positive of the film. Plus, the story, screenplay, action sequences and the twists in the script make Akira a must-watch flick.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s Bad?<\/h3>\n

Some of the haphazard twists in the second half might disappoint the viewers somewhat.<\/p>\n

Verdict<\/h3>\n

Go and watch the flick just for Sonakshi Sinha. The director has sliced and diced, mixed and matched the action choreography quite ably, and presented the blood-soaked action saga to mainstream consciousness by way of Sinha’s revenge-crazed anti-hero’s irresistible heroics. Her kicks and hardcore action scenes will certainly impress everyone, especially women, who will set to regenerate a sense of pride for a female heroic persona after watching the film.<\/p>\n

So, who’s afraid of a little blood?<\/p>\n
