A mosque, also an Imambara, the Hooghly Imambara is situated in Hooghly District of West Bengal. A pure Islamic edifice, it is of great significance to the Muslim community. The construction of the building was started by Muhammad Mohsin in 1841 and got its present structure in 1861.<\/p>\n

This two storied structure has a grand tower clock with two dials running with a single central machine. The walls of the mosque is adorned with scriptures from the Quran. It also has a beautiful prayer hall called ‘Jari Dalan’. The hall has high quality granite and marble flooring, chandeliers, candles and lanterns. There is a central wooden throne where the Maulabi<\/i> (priest) usually sits. The compound also has a fountain in the middle and graves of Haji Moahasin and his family members.<\/p>\n

Your best bet to reach here is to hire a rickshaw.<\/p>\n
