It is made by making a batter of gram flour and adding various spices to the batter. The batter is then poured on a hot griddle and thin pancakes are made and fried till crispy on both the sides. This is a very healthy snack by itself. I added <em>methi<\/em> leaves to the batter to make it even healthier. You can add any green of your choice to the batter or can make the<em> chilla<\/em> without it as well. This recipe is good for diabetic patients as <em>besan<\/em> is a recommended flour for them. Try to make the <em>chillas<\/em> as thin as \u00a0possible for a nice and crunchy finish. So here is the recipe.<\/p>\n<h2>Ingredients needed for\u00a0Besan aur Methi ka Chilla<\/h2>\n<p><em>Besan<\/em> &#8211; 1 cup<\/p>\n<p>Water &#8211; 1 cup<\/p>\n<p>Onion &#8211; 1\/4 cup (very finely chopped)<\/p>\n<p>Green chili &#8211; 1 (finely chopped)<\/p>\n<p>Ginger Garlic paste &#8211; 1\/2 tsp<\/p>\n<p>Salt to taste<\/p>\n<p><em>Ajwain<\/em> seeds &#8211; 1\/2 tsp<\/p>\n<p><em>Chaat masala<\/em> &#8211; 1\/2 tsp<\/p>\n<p>Coriander leaves &#8211; 1 tbsp (chopped)<\/p>\n<p><em>Methi<\/em> leaves &#8211; 1\/4 cup (chopped)<\/p>\n<p>Baking soda &#8211; 1\/4 tsp<\/p>\n<p>Oil for frying<\/p>\n<h2>How to make Besan aur Methi ka Chilla<\/h2>\n<p>Whisk<em> besan<\/em> and water in a bowl.<\/p>\n<p>Make sure their are no lumps.<\/p>\n<p>Add onion, green chili, ginger garlic paste, salt, <em>ajwain, chaat masala, methi<\/em> leaves, coriander leaves and baking soda.<\/p>\n<p>Whisk together nicely.<\/p>\n<p>Heat a non-stick pan.<\/p>\n<p>Pour 1\/2 cup batter on the non-stick pan.<\/p>\n<p>Using the back of spoon, spread the batter in a thin circle.<\/p>\n<p>Pour little oil on the sides and fry from both the sides till golden brown and crispy.<\/p>\n<p>Serve hot with green coriander and mint chutney.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Besan ka chilla is a very popular breakfast item in many Indian households.
