It is presented &#8220;in recognition of exceptional service\/ performance of the highest order.\u201d The first Bharat Ratna had a 35 mm circular gold medallion in its design and the sun was carved on it. On top of which Bharat Ratna was written in Hindi and on the lower side there was a wreath. The national emblem and sentence were written behind it. After this, a shining sun of platinum was made on a sacred fig leaf made of copper while changing the gemstone. Bharat Ratna is written in silver below it.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 0in;\">Before 2011, Bharat Ratna was only given for contribution in the fields of &#8220;science, arts, literature and public services&#8221;. However, &#8220;any field of human endeavor&#8221; was also included in December 2011.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 0in;\">While the Bharat Ratna award is presented by the President of India, the recommendations are made by the Prime Minister. Rajagopalchari ji was the Governor General of Independent India from 1948 to 1950. He was the first and last Indian to hold this post. He was the Chief Minister of the Madras Presidency from 1937 to 1939 during the British rule. In independent India, he served as the Chief Minister of the Madras State from 1952 to 1954. He was the Vice President of India from 1952 to 1962. In 1962 he was appointed as the President of India. His birthday, which falls on September 5, is celebrated as Teacher\u2019s Day in India. Radhakrishnan was one of the most distinguished scholars of comparative religion and philosophy. He had served as a professor of Philosophy at the University of Mysore, the King George V Chair of Mental and Moral Science at the University of Calcutta, and Spalding Professor of Eastern Religion and Ethics at the University of Oxford. He was born on November 7, 1888 and died in 1970. His father Chandrashekhar Iyer was a lecturer in Maths and Physics. This is the reason why Raman was inspired to do science course. Chandrasekhar Venkata Raman&#8217;s mother was Parvati Ammal. He scored the highest marks in the history of the university and also secured first position in the IAS examination.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 0in;\">Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman (CV Raman) was an internationally acclaimed scientist. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1930, is often cited around the world for his work dealing with the scattering of light, specifically the changing wavelength of diverted light. He was the first Indian scientist to have been awarded a Nobel prize and the second Indian origin Nobel awardee, superseded only by Rabindranath Tagore (literature). Raman was also the founder of the Indian Journal of Physics (1926), as well as its first editor. Mandela played an important role in South Africa&#8217;s Anti-Apartheid Movement. He also served as the President of South Africa from 1994 to 1999.
