This year was the year of some major big names entering into the institute of marriage. The tradition was set into motion by Anushka and Virat after their resplendent December 2017 wedding. There have been many celebrity weddings in 2018, both from the entertainment world and outsides have tied the knot. Begin the slideshow to know all the inside details of their wedding celebrations, how they met, and the story of how their love blossomed!<\/p>\n

1. Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra \u2013 Priyanka Knows How to Spend<\/strong><\/p>\n

Starting with the latest and the most exotic, these two from opposite parts of the globe came together and the rest is history. While Nick Jonas is a record producer, actor, songwriter, and singer, Priyanka Chopra is a full-fledged Bollywood actress who has tasted waters of Hollywood with a few shows and films. While they look different, belong to different cultures, and have about a decade difference in ages, what one can do when one is struck with the cupid’s arrow? And, Nick also indicated that he felt like he knew Priyanka forever. Read on to get all of it.<\/p>\n

As much as phoney and cheesy this sounds, but Nick did get down on one knee, that too in front of a couple of people, in the first few meets only with Priyanka. To make that seems more likely, yes the duo had been exchanging flirty text messages back and forth for months. The sparks had flown and chemistry had built up quickly. Joe, Nick’s brother, too confirmed that he was completely smitten by the exuberant Chopra. \u201cHe was just this little puppy dog\u201d, he described.<\/p>\n

They first met a week before 2017 Met gala for drinks and then again at the gala held at New York’s Carlyle hotel. The growing familiarity led Priyanka to invite Jonas to her apartment. Next thing we knew Nick would message her Quantico co-star or make Twitter posts like \u201cPriyanka. Is. Wow.\u201d and \u201cI\u2019m hearing from a few mutual friends that we should meet.\u201d Priyanka feeling the things are getting so much public messaged him to contact her directly. That’s how Nick got Priyanka’s number and the first phase of their romance officially began. Then came the Oscar’s after party where the knee-bending episode took place. And, she didn’t just say yes right away. According to Nick, she took 45 seconds and was completely speechless all that time. Then Nick took the initiative and said that he was going to put the ring in her finger if she didn’t have any objections. And, then he did so. Their Roka took place in August.<\/p>\n

Priyanka has also shared one heartfelt dialogue between her and Nick. Nick told her \u201cI love the way you look at the world. I love the drive you have.\u201d Priyanka confessed that she’d never been told that in her life by a guy. It’d always been the other way around.<\/p>\n

Their marriage was not just the meeting of two people, but also the meeting of two starkly-different worlds. So, that would obviously get reflected in their wedding celebrations. The two married in both Indian and western styles. For the venue, they selected the Taj Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur. This 26-acre land had so many sites that the duo had multitudes of options to organise different ceremonies. In addition, the couple has more than 340 rooms in the castle for comfortably arranging accommodation for their guests. And, about the ceremonies, not only Priyanka followed the Mehendi ritual, Nick joined in, too. He had on his handwritten the initials of her bride and an additional quote ‘Om Priyankaay Namah’ in Sanskrit. That’s some groom neck-deep in love! After the splendid castle wedding, Nick obviously became the National Jiju.<\/p>\n

For her wedding, she chose rich red Sabyasachi lehenga. The impressive threadwork, french knots, and hand-cut designs – all took 3720 hours to incorporate in the regal masterpiece. Her wedding jewelry was equally magnificent consisting of emeralds, uncut diamonds, and 22 karat gold Japanese cultured pearls. And Nick was no behind his chic bride. He was looking all dapper with silk Sherwani, Chanderi tissue safa, and chikan dupatta which was hand-embroidered. Syndicate diamond necklace and rose cut kalgi completed and accentuated the look.<\/p>\n

For the western style wedding, they roped in the very guy who played an important role in their meeting in the rudimentary stages of their now fully-bloomed relationship. Ralph Lauren designed a\u00a0 <\/span>hand-embroidered, hand-beaded long sleeve white gown for Priyanka. It was accentuated with lace-effect tulle appliqu\u00e9s, scroll and floral motifs, and scalloped sleeves. It reportedly took 1,826 hours to make! The bride went for Jimmy Choo shoes for the big day. Clearly, Priyanka finds it fine to splurge on her big day.<\/p>\n

Quite a paradisiacal wedding it was! And, it’s all worth it at the end.<\/p>\n

2. Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone \u2013 The Sweet and the Cute<\/strong><\/p>\n

What happens when the two biggest stars come together? The fireworks, of course. And, that’s exactly how their love story is – full of romance and passion, something we’ve also repeatedly seen on-screen as well. Like reel, like real!<\/p>\n

We all know how gushy Ranveer Singh can get. And, that’s exactly how everybody caught on that there had been something going on between the two. Ranveer confessed in his own words that he got ‘flat’ when he saw Deepika at a silver gown in Macau at Zee Cine Awards. That was the first time he saw her in person. An, then as fate would have it, they were cast in Bhansali\u2019s Goliyon ki Raasleela…Ram Leela later, and the two hit it off pretty quickly. However, they kept their budding romance under covers and nobody was sure of anything relating the two. The year 2013, Deepika was riding the ladder of success faster than ever with big hits like Chennai Express, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, and Race 2. She was also shooting for months in Goa for Finding Fanny the same year where Ranveer was seen dropping by. Later, he also played a cameo in the film, playing DP’s deceased husband. She later denied having any knowledge of him playing the part.<\/p>\n

They practically maintained ‘I-don’t-even-know-her\/him’. However, it didn’t stay like that for long. Firstly, photographs of the two standing together emerged from SRK’s party which hinted definitively towards them being in a relationship. Singh also used to visit DP whenever she was away from home shooting for films. Like when she went to Dubai for Happy New Year, Singh went there, too. And, Deepika also reciprocated this gesture by visiting him in Spain when he was working on Dil Dhadakne Do. And, in 2015, the air got clear when they started displaying their romance openly in public. On Farah Khan’s birthday party, Ranveer didn’t care about the people or even the shutterbugs when he held out a yellow flower for her, while she walks ahead blushing with Karan Johar. And at IIFA 2015, Ranveer went grand. He went down on a knee on the stage and sang ‘Ram Chahe Leela’ to Deeps standing right in front of him.<\/p>\n

They perhaps knew at this point of time that they’ll be together, so didn’t mind bringing the public into it. Ranveer also started praising Deepika in the press for her acting skills. The two zeroed in on for a destination wedding at Italy\u2019s Lake Como. The wedding was just like the initial stages of their relationship – very private, intimate, restricted from taking pics, and very few people let in. Like Nickyanka, they organised two kinds of weddings, since they belonged to different backgrounds. Both Sindhi traditions and South Indian rituals were followed.<\/p>\n

For the Konkani wedding, Deepika chose Sabyasachi as her designer and added grace to her big day with gold and red silk saree complemented with heavy jewellery. About her make-up, she went with light make-up in shades of nudes and brown. Other than that, she wore a little red bindi, jhumkas, a layered necklace, a heavy choker, and mathapatti. Ranveer chose a traditional attire for the south Indian wedding. He wore kurta, gold and ivory veshti, angavastram, and mundavalya.<\/p>\n

During the Sindhi wedding, she wore a golden embroidered red lehenga checkered with golden work. But what took away the limelight was her dupatta with a special message ‘Sada Saubhagyavati Bhava’ written on the border. Moving on to her make-up, she chose earthy shades and smokey eyes. Her jewellery included kundan bangles, maangtika, chunky earrings, nath, and intricate rings. And, as a Sindhi bride, she donned kaliras and red chura as well. Ranveer too complimented his beautiful bride with Sabyasachi red kanjeevaram shervani that had golden threadwork. This time, Ranveer too give in to the bling of heavy jewellery like his bride. 3. Anand Ahuja and Sonam Kapoor – The Wild-Child Couple<\/strong><\/p>\n

One look at this couple and you’ll know these lovey-dovey beings are playful kids at heart. Despite coming from different backgrounds, they still find the right person in each other. And, they couldn’t look any happier, now. Let’s just go to the beginning and see how it all started.<\/p>\n

Now, Sonam is one of those people who don’t like to talk about her romantic affairs, but she really doesn’t mind when the word spreads around through social media. The couple isn’t keeping anything under covers when they flirt openly on platforms like Instagram. But that’s really cute if you have seen the back and forth between them \u2013\u00a0 <\/span>so cute that it puts a smile on your face. Anand shared an image on Instagram of orchids, which was probably a gift from Sonam. She wrote in the comments section \u201cOrchids represent love perfection thoughtfulness and beauty.\u201d And, Anand replied \u201cThey are also just pretty. #OhYouFancyHuh #ImNotThatFancy\u201d. This romantic couple also knows how to keep its audience amused with their light-hearted banter. But, how did they even meet in the first place? For one, Anand is not from the film industry. He’s a businessman and the founder of Bhane, a popular cloth brand. And, Sonam, well Sonam is a Fashionable ‘Aisha’\u00a0 <\/span>who has lived and grown up in the industry. But there was one thing common between the two – both had a taste for high-quality clothes.<\/p>\n

They met through a common friend Pernia Qureshi who is a good friend of Ahuja and the stylist of Sonam. And, they got along so well with each other, that for all we know, Anand proposed her after a month into the relationship with her. This all happened in 2014. However, like many cautious couples, they waited for their intimacy to grow stronger. In 2016, they made their first public appearance together. Sonam was still, however, stuck to her ‘no-talk-on-relationship’ policy. However, Anand was the bolder of the two and during an interview to a magazine, he confessed he had a crush on her, a millennial style one! From her \u2018Veere Di Wedding\u2019 co-stars like Kareena Kapoor Khan and Swara Bhaskar to Bachchan family, the wedding got the attendance of all the big names of Bollywood. The ‘Khoobsurat’ actress went differently in choosing her bridal dress as well. Her designer was Anuradha Vakil who made her a gold and red splendid lehenga. She opted for traditional heavy jewellery complemented with chooda and matha-patti. Her chick groom also looked elegant in a pagadi with ruby beads and a muted gold sherwani. They tied the knot in Anand Karaj, the Sikh traditional wedding ceremony, at Rockdale, Mumbai. And they lived happily ever after, as far as we know.<\/p>\n

4. Anand Piramal and Isha Ambani \u2013 The Rich and the Richer<\/strong><\/p>\n

These two scions from the rich family took the Internet by a storm around their wedding celebrations. And, naturally so. Who doesn’t want to know how do rich do it! And, here we are now with grandiose wedding details and equally adorable love story.<\/p>\n

This is a straightforward romantic tale of a rich meeting another rich. While Isha is the daughter of Nita and Mukesh Ambani, the richest man of Asia, Anand is the son of a billionaire, Ajay Piramal. Forbes has estimated his wealth to be around Rs 30,000 crore. Ajay is the chief of Piramal Enterprise which is invested in finance, pharma, real estate, and more. Ajay has also been a friend of Mukesh for roughly 40 years. So, their kids taking their ties to a level up was sort of meant-to-happen. Apparently, Anand popped the question to Isha at a temple and she promptly said yes. Both families joined in the celebration after hearing about the pleasantly big news.<\/p>\n

Their wedding took place including both Vedic Hindu and Gujarati rituals. There were also arrangements of high security stretching to the roads that lead to the Ambani’s residence Antilia. That was understandable considering the wealthy status of the families involved. The lavish celebrations could be seen in both the decoration of the house and the apparels of the bride. Isha was clad in a gorgeous red Gujarati traditional saree and heavy jewellery. The whole kanyadaan ritual was narrated by Amitabh Bachchan in his powerful voice. Also, Lata Mangeshkar gave the bride blessing by recording ‘Gayatri Mantra’ in her legendary voice for the newly married couple. It was also seen that as the ‘bidaai’ moment drew closer, everybody was so emotional. But, all is well if the end is well.<\/p>\n
