1. Brain Museum, Bengaluru<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ever had the desire to know your brain better, touch it, feel it? All these outrageous wishes of yours can come true here. For here are on display more than 300 brains preserved safely in jars at ultra-cold temperatures of -86 \u00b0C. And, there is variety \u2013 from brains struck with neurodegenerative symptoms to schizophrenia to simply of those who have died in road accidents (of course, their brains are taken after consent from their families), everyone’s brain is here. And, you can contribute too in this ever-deepening research of brain by donating yours as well! The whole objective of this bank is to spread awareness of neurosciences only. So, join the bandwagon already. For science.<\/p>\n

2. Indian Museum, Kolkata<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Indian<\/a><\/p>\n

Love the good old (By old we mean really old, and even prehistoric) times? If yes, then you’ll surely love the alleys of this museum. From Buddha’s ashes to 4000 years old Egyptian mummy, there are just tons of instances to see ‘how did it all started’ and ‘how did they used to do in those times’. And, just like the ancient tropes in this museum, it is itself the oldest of all museums, not only in India but also in the Asia-Pacific. The archeological tour here would take you through different lanes of ancient coins, stellar armours, the artsy Mughal paintings, and even the uncanny meteorite collection. You come here fascinated and leave even more fascinated, bewildered, and astounded. So worth it.<\/p>\n

3. Shankar\u2019s International Dolls Museum, New Delhi<\/strong><\/p>\n

Capital’s very own museum is all eccentric with different types of dolls (over 6,000!) from all over the world. And, the most exciting fact is that these are not made here in India, but are collected from over 80 countries. One minute you’re looking at a miniature of Japanese geisha, then another at a model of English doll dressed from the Shakespearean era. You can also smell the whole cultural potpourri brought to one place through UK’s Queen’s collection replica dolls, Spain’s Flamenco dancers, Thailand’s Women’s Orchestra and a group of figures swaying in Hungary’s Maypole Dance. You can’t help but imagine this as an offbeat wonderland of its own. Lastly, they have here a clinic too for the ‘sick dolls’. In case a doll suffers ‘injury’ and need to ‘sewn’ back to ‘health’!<\/p>\n

4. Sulabh International Museum of Toilets, New Delhi<\/strong><\/p>\n

At first, it may look awkward to plan a visit to seeing just toilets, but in the end, you’ll see how enlightening it can be. Not to forget the entertaining part! And, the museum is also in that ride. You’ll find a section of humorous cartoon and all sorts of jokes on the toilet. You can even read the poetry on toilets, too, here.<\/p>\n

And, when it comes the time to see the real toilets, as much as wacky it sounds, but you can have the best day of the week. From gold & silver toilets used by the Roman emperors to today’s sophisticated toilets (some of them which can even convert urine to potable water) are all on exhibit. There are also uncanny and creative toilets like the one which is camouflaged as a bookcase and then there are ornate Victorian toilet seats. The whole museum is itself a timeline showing the history of toilets and their evolution throughout the world since 2500 BC to date. You’ll be amazed to see what toilet etiquettes and the related social customs were existing in the earlier times. The extras like toiletries, toilet furniture, bidets, privies, water closets, and chamber pots from the yester-era will keep you hooked for the whole day.<\/p>\n

Spending time in rooms filled with toilets isn’t all that bad. Give it a try.<\/p>\n

5. Vechaar Utensils Museum, Ahmedabad<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Vechaar<\/a><\/p>\n

This unique museum was a part of his effort to preserve the rare artistic skills and cultural heritage of Indian craftsmen. VECHAAR museum houses over 4,000 utensils, from 1,000-year-old jugs to modern glass utensils, and covers every type of metal from bronze and brass to German silver. The display also explains how these utensils evolved in different periods of history as a result of man\u2019s changing needs and environment.<\/p>\n

6. Mayong Black Magic and Witchcraft Museum, Guwahati<\/strong><\/p>\n

If you know anything about the village Mayong, you would agree that there couldn’t be any better location for a museum on black magic than here. Mayong is itself considered the originating land of witchcraft and black magic. And, the locals are believed to actively engage in the supernatural activities here and there such as healing (you can be given a live demo of it in the museum!) and even ‘finding missing objects’. Don’t ask how.<\/p>\n

The whole town has been filled with rumours of people disappearing in thin air, humans turning into beasts, and other spooky anecdotes. Enter the museum and you’ll be handed the written accounts of black magic and Tantrik manuscripts. Trust us, your best read hasn’t happened yet. Also, here you’ll find skulls, special tools used for sorcery, and handmade dolls. Your thirst for occult can never be satisfied fully until you come here and see it for yourself how magic morphs into reality!<\/p>\n
