Reports show that there are around 160 million privately-owned motor vehicles. Every year, 21 million new vehicles are sold on an average. However, just 1% of these new vehicles are electrical vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>With government stressing on moving \u201ctowards alternative fuel\u201d, they have already started to replace around 500,000-odd petrol\/diesel cars. They have already asked Tata Motors to supply 10,000 electric vehicles to kick-start this transformation.<\/p>\n<p>This push for electric vehicles by the government is also popularizing electric cars among the burgeoning middle class of India. In fact, it has become a fad among car owners as it gives them a status in the society. To capitulate on this pent up demand many automobile companies have started designing and manufacturing these vehicles. Some of them are Mahindra, Audi, Nissan, KIA, and Hyundai.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Now, let\u2019s check the forthcoming electric and hybrid vehicles in 2019:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<p><strong>1. Mahindra KUV100 Electric<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mapsofindia.com\/my-india\/automobiles\/forthcoming-electric-vehicles-in-india\/attachment\/mahindra-kuv100-electric\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-84180\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-84180 size-full\" title=\"Mahindra KUV100 Electric\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mapsofindia.com\/ci-moi-images\/my-india\/2019\/03\/mahindra-KUV100-electric.jpg\" alt=\"Mahindra KUV100 Electric\" width=\"669\" height=\"350\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mapsofindia.com\/ci-moi-images\/my-india\/2019\/03\/mahindra-KUV100-electric.jpg 669w, https:\/\/www.mapsofindia.com\/ci-moi-images\/my-india\/2019\/03\/mahindra-KUV100-electric-300x157.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.mapsofindia.com\/ci-moi-images\/my-india\/2019\/03\/mahindra-KUV100-electric-665x348.jpg 665w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 669px) 100vw, 669px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Mahindra is all set to release the electric version of their popular KUV100 model. KUV100 Electric (also called eKUV100) is expected to be launched during mid-2019. Its first ever public debut was during 2018 Auto Expo. eKUV100 looks very similar to the standard KUV100 but with some minor changes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Highlights:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>140km maximum range.<\/li>\n<li>Fast electric charging facility will be there. This feature will help the users get 80% battery time within an hour.<\/li>\n<li>In comparison to the regular hatchback, this electric SUV will come with a large plastic panel instead of the large air dam.<\/li>\n<li>Six-slat grille and projector headlamps will be there. They will be fully enclosed.<\/li>\n<li>The new Mahindra KUV100 Electric will come with the \u2018+ME\u2019 badging, located on the front fender.<\/li>\n<li>No tailpipe will be there as this SUV is electric driven.<\/li>\n<li>On the tailgate, a grey color appliqu\u00e9 will be prominent.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Once launched, it will be the first ever all-electric micro SUV to go on sale. Its price will be around Rs 8-10 lakh.<\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Audi e-Tron<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mapsofindia.com\/my-india\/automobiles\/forthcoming-electric-vehicles-in-india\/attachment\/audi-e-tron\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-84183\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-84183 size-full\" title=\"Audi e-Tron\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mapsofindia.com\/ci-moi-images\/my-india\/2019\/03\/audi-e-tron.jpg\" alt=\"Audi e-Tron\" width=\"669\" height=\"350\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mapsofindia.com\/ci-moi-images\/my-india\/2019\/03\/audi-e-tron.jpg 669w, https:\/\/www.mapsofindia.com\/ci-moi-images\/my-india\/2019\/03\/audi-e-tron-300x157.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.mapsofindia.com\/ci-moi-images\/my-india\/2019\/03\/audi-e-tron-665x348.jpg 665w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 669px) 100vw, 669px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>During the world premiere of Audi e-Tron in San Fransisco (USA), the company announced that it intends to launch the electric car in India by 2019.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Highlights:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Audi e-Tron is a crossover silhouette that sits between Audi Q5 and Q7.<\/li>\n<li>On a single charge, Audi e-Tron will run around 400 km.<\/li>\n<li>This electric SUV will have a top speed of 200 kmph.<\/li>\n<li>Sprint speed:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: square\">\n<li>In the normal mode, the 0-100 kmph sprint will be done in 6.6 seconds.<\/li>\n<li>In the boost mode, the 0-100 kmph sprint will be done in 5.7 seconds.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Reports say the upcoming Audi E-Tron SUV will come with two electric motors. While a 125 kW motor will be located on the front axle, a 140 kW motor will be located on the rear axle. Both these motors will produce 265 kW or 355 bhp power output.<\/li>\n<li>The power output can reach 300 kW or 408 bhp in the boost mode.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Audi e-Tron is expected to cost you around Rs. 1 crore. It is expected to be launched in India during September-December 2019.<\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<p><strong>3. Nissan Leaf<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mapsofindia.com\/my-india\/automobiles\/forthcoming-electric-vehicles-in-india\/attachment\/nissan-leaf\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-84184\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-84184 size-full\" title=\"Nissan Leaf\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mapsofindia.com\/ci-moi-images\/my-india\/2019\/03\/nissan-leaf.jpg\" alt=\"Nissan Leaf\" width=\"669\" height=\"350\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mapsofindia.com\/ci-moi-images\/my-india\/2019\/03\/nissan-leaf.jpg 669w, https:\/\/www.mapsofindia.com\/ci-moi-images\/my-india\/2019\/03\/nissan-leaf-300x157.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.mapsofindia.com\/ci-moi-images\/my-india\/2019\/03\/nissan-leaf-665x348.jpg 665w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 669px) 100vw, 669px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The 2018 Nissan Leaf facelift was unveiled in Tokyo (Japan) on September 6, 2017. This electric car is expected to be launched in March 2019.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Highlights:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Nissan Leaf\u2019s design is inspired from the new generation Micra model.<\/li>\n<li>Reports say that the new Nissan electric vehicle will come with a new e-Pedal system. It will help in acceleration, deceleration, stop, and hold functions. All these functions will be done with the help of one-pedal technological function, an extremely useful feature in congested traffic.<\/li>\n<li>This electric car will come with an improved battery life. Nissan has incorporated this car with a 40 kWh battery. On a single charge, the 2018 Nissan Leaf will run up to 400 kms.<\/li>\n<li>Depending on the power capacity, the total time of charging will be anything from 8 to 16 hours.<\/li>\n<li>Nissan Leaf will also come with a quick charging feature with which the users can get 80% battery time in just 40 minutes.<\/li>\n<li>ProPILOT Park system will be there in this electric car. This automated system will take over the steering wheel to help drivers park their car in tight spots.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The electric car of Nissan is expected to be priced in the Rs. 35-40 Lakh range.<\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<p><strong>4. Its expected date of launch is August\u201919. Hyundai, the renowned South Korean auto maker, unveiled the model in 2018 Geneva Motor Show. This is the first time that Hyundai is launching an all-electric car in India.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Highlights:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Hyundai Kona Electric cars will be available in India with 2 powertrain options:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: square\">\n<li>Long Range Version: 64kWh battery pack<\/li>\n<li>Short Range Version: 39.2kWh battery pack<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>The all-electric Hyundai Kona is expected to run up to 470kms on a single charge.<\/li>\n<li>It will look quite similar to the regular compact SUV. However, the Kona EV will come with the closed grille, the most prominent difference with the regular model of Kona.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Hyundai Kona Electric car is expected to be priced under Rs 30 lakh.<\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<p><strong>5. It will reportedly be available in the range of around 250km. Reports say Mahindra S201 Electric SUV is going to be launched by middle of 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Mahindra &amp; Mahindra\u2019s managing director, Dr. Pawan Goenka, has said that the new S201 EV will come with 380V battery system electric drivetrain. It will be manufactured in the Chakan plant of the company.
